i think you will notice the tekin being smoother because it is sensored, at least smoother in the low end.
But dont forget that the mmm is not sensored, so its kind of like comparing apples to oranges. One could argue that the mmp is sensored, and compare the rx8 and t8 motor to a mmp and t8 motor, but remeber the mmp is more geared towards the 10th scale, even though associated puts it in the sc8e rtr so they must feel it is powerful enough

Agreed. Something I noticed about this thread is the lack of a larger racer crowd. Seems like a good portion of the users are in the infancy stages of thinking about racing and I don't always think some of the advice going out on here is the right stuff if vehicles are just run up and down a street and based off of that as a users experience. A lot of new blood coming to the racing scene hopefully.

20 years I've tinkered around in the RC world.
20 Years I've wanted to race.
I'm now 30... and I'm going to finally do it.
I have a friend locally that has build a course for SC trucks, but it's ultimately going to the 1/8 scale. It's 300 feet so far and had a few doubles and some singles. I find this to be a good place to get my feet wet.
Otherwise, I have two tracks within 2 hours away (in opposite directions) I plan to race at: CRC Raceway in Rome, NY and Barnstormers in Chester, NY.

Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions about this tonight guys....
I have the screws in (except one, apparently a button head isn't going to work on that one so I left it empty) - and the pinion I'm putting on is a MOD 1 - 5mm Pinion short shank. It should work, except it is only 1/2 on the spur gear.
Is this normal with this mount?

If we included only two mounting holes, it would be easy to accomodate the M4 holes, but trying to fit a four bolt M3 pattern and six bolt M3/m4 pattern on a motor plate was a challenge. This same pattern had to be utilized in the outer BB plate to clear the outer BB support arm.
We has some M4 button heads with 5.5mm dia in the shop and used them for the project. But somehow these are hard to source out everywhere.
It is nice to see people experiment with longer M3x10mm. We know Tekin can use the longer screws but other motor may not allow it. The M3x8 provide adequate holding power especially with four screws.
Tekin should have gone with all M3 in a 6 bolt pattern but that's their design which we make our plates to work with. Once we source out smaller dia M4 button heads we'll let you know to save time modifying the ones you have now.
We wanted a mount that had it all but, you can only physically stuff so much onto this mount.
Wait till you see the front bulkhead mount. That had it's share of challenges since it is a one piece unit that had to allow for easy diff removal at the same time.

Id race if i had a sure way to get to the track. Right now i just bum rides from friends or gf. I finally got my roommate involved in the rc stuff, but like myself his license is suspended. Ive made friends with a couple of the guys at the track so we might create a car pool...

Have you guys ever wondered what is the age of some of the people that we are communicating with via this forum? I have met quite a few people at tracks and some of the sponsored guys also and to much surprise, some of these so called internet pros are no older than 13 years old. Sometimes I wish I knew when I was trying to argue with a 13 year old.

We ran all last season with the batteries and not one problem. I have purchased the gens ace to use this year with the turnigy's.

Of course in no way am I bashing the 13 year olds who can no doubt race circles around me! I am 39 and have a 10 year old so I know that in a few years he'll be beating me handily.
Good advice is good advice. But my wife thinks its funny that I am discussing 'toy' cars with 'kids'. ha.
