I'm having a hard time justifying a $309 Tekin when I can get a Castle for $195.

If you have the money, buy a 4mm Hudy or Dynamite reamer. It'll get the hole sized perfectly.

24 thousandths of an inch is a lot of clearance. Although plastic shrinks a bit after you drill it out (from what I understand the plastic stretches around the drill bit), it won't be enough to compensate for a drill bit that's 0.024" too large.

I can't find numbered bits locally individually, and I don't want a full set for $60. My hinge pins are quite snug in the holes so I would like to do this. Any opinions?

Thanks!

The only issue im having with buying that carry bag, is im not sure if the sc8e would fit in it. I dont think it would, and that kind of defeats the purpose of the carry bag hah

Get the castle and see how many races you don't finish. Then you can justify your extra savings. I have seen it too many times this past summer.

I bought a Hudy off of eBay. Works pretty good, but I would hesitate to buy the Dynamite one.

More than likely it could be blamed on user error though.

Ive heard just as many stories of tekin systems failing as i have of Castles... if you are setup properly both systems are great.

The castles are really this terrible? I know they are a bit of a plug and play, and they are significantly cheaper, and unsensored, and... bah... Ok, you're right.

Default Body Design

So, I'm not going to even bother attempting to paint the body on my RC8be. Anyone have any suggestions of who's great at painting them? I don't mind sending it out and waiting a couple of weeks.

PS - I'm NOT a flames guy LOL. Leave the flames on the hot rods.

User error usually does not involve smoke coming from the esc in the middle of a race or BEC's that can't supply enough voltage.

I agree on the tekins also, but they have corrected their problem and they are no where near as bad now. I had both and castle just can't take the abuse and is better suited for 1/10. I have 4 tekins now and not one problem since the boards have been updated with more support.

I'm sorry, I'm just teasing. I had a castle in my old buggy. It works fine. I never raced with it, but the bashing .. it served its purpose and I never had an issue.

But I'm excited to see a difference in throttle response once my RC8be is up and running. I've heard all but too much conversation on Castle vs Tekin.

any issue i have had with my castle has been my own fault, usually involved ripping out the wire because of chassis flex.

So i think its fair to say each manufacture makes a decent product, each has their pros and cons ... lets not start a flame war
