Give this a go, should be all the parts you should need to go from a 12r5 to a 12r5.1.

  • 4688 upper pod plate
  • 8511 lower pod plate
  • 8536 motor mount
  • 8537 left bulkhead
  • 4687 motor mount standoff
  • 4608 diff hub brushless
  • 4609 thrust cone brushless
On a side note I look forward to trying those TRC Primes this coming weekend. I'll post my feedback after this weekend as my local hobby shop received an shipment this past week.

I thought about doing that...the Yokomo's rim off set is very extreme and would really need a Yokomo axle to be fitted as well.

Just ordered some of the TRC tires for the race at the end of the month We'll see how good they work in a couple of weeks.

The rears have a pretty poor designed webing. Very flexiable, I wouldn't trust them. I would think they would provide a more resilient form than the CRC rim though at times. The fronts aren't as bad (there front tires )

The webbing looks the same as the CRC rim...maybe the plastic is different as the CRC has very little flex...but look at the Jaco rims...they have quite a bit of flex so maybe that's a good thing.

The Yokomo rear rims have a lot of flex in them... and guess who keeps winning the worlds

Yup...I wanted to try the Yokomos as I really like the way the rim looks...but I didn't want to have to change out the axle.

Default 1/12 on pavement??

I am organizing a club for this summer, looks like we will be running on a specialized Soap Box Derby track. It's basically a two lane road that's in pristine condition. I plan on pushing RCGT but was curious if 1/12 would run well on regular asphalt??

Wow!! One race every two years!!! And hey, it only takes MASAMI to be the tire bitch/pit strategist to make it happen, You're right, totally superior performance....

Give me week in/week out performance every time. If they hadn't started the worlds with weak tire additive things might have been different.

I'll take a proven performer everytime, and that's CRC high rollers. IIC, Snowbirds, and Cleveland, ya know, the REAL Carpet races......

Not taking anything away from any other tire brand, but Masami has been using them for years and now his mini me version They always have an edge with those tires, mostly on asphalt though, carpet is another story.

Anyway we were talking about the rims, not the tires... I would say Yokomo tires on any other rim would also be great... It's the rubber that makes the biggest difference....
AGAIN NOT SAYING CRC or any other brand is not good!!!! I have used different brands under different conditions and they all have an advantage somewhere...

Yes if the asphalt is smooth enough it can be done very easily. Its best if you can lay down some type of sugar water or soda to help with the grip.
