Front or rear? I personally start with 3 deg. rear and 2 deg. out front.

The spur gear seems to stick out just a little below the chasis. Is this causing any problems when the chasis bottoms out? I don't remember it being that far out before and I haven't changed anything as far as I can remember.

I've really never understood how the foam-in-bladder mod really worked. I know what it is but keep hearing that it makes the shock more consistant. Can anyone explain what they mean by consistant?

Sure. See what happens in a normal shock is the air behind the bladder will heat up and expand throughout the course of a long race. This will change your rebound and in turn also change your ride height. That makes for different handling at the end of a race vs. the beginning. The vented cap allows the air behind the bladder to escape. The foam is then used to provide the support behind the bladder that the air pressure normally would however unlike the air, the foam won't change. By the foam providing consistant pressure behind the bladder your rebound and ride height stay the same from beginning to end of a race. That's what makes the handling consistant throughout the race.

Thanks JAMMINKRAZY, that's pretty interesting. The next time I'm at the track I'll check my ride hight and rebound before and after a race. If I see a substantial change I might do the mod. The only drawback I see is the extra maintainance and having a stockpile of bladders for just-in-case.

You do need to keep a little closer eye on your shock and make sure to put fresh bladders in pretty often, but it really isn't that bad. If you're maintaining your shocks how you should anyway you won't have any problems. Well worth it IMO.

I agree with Jammin. I've been running the modded shocks for a while now and it has been one of the best things I have ever done to the truck. The shocks stay MUCH more consistent. I have never had a bladder rip either.

good info thanks Jammin, What foam do you use? I have the stock losi foams cut in half. Is there anything better to use?

For some reason my shock springs keep popping off the retainers. Any trick to stop this? I just put new ones on and it still is happening.

I also broke an AL steering servo horn. Does the hudy one work?

So what keeps the air from coming back in? It's just a hole and not like a one way vent.
