If you shop for awhile, or attempt to check out, a special offer for the club will pop up most of the time (for $9.99 instead of $19.99). Renewing is usually $9.99 as well.
Last of the stuff I need to finish up should arrive today. Hopefully I can get everything built tonight so I can take it out for the first drive before the weather turns ugly tomorrow.
BTW, those Protek 2S LiPos for my kiddo's 1/16 Revo are a huge step up from the Orion 7.2V NiMH batteries! He had a little trouble controlling it when the batteries were fresh.
One other thing, Protek advised that the batteries should only be run down to 50% or so for the first 5 cycles. I've never heard of this, but I don't keep on top of everything. Any truth to this? Should I just cycle it 5 times on the charger?

For inexpensive batteries, I'd check out HobbyKing. They come from overseas, so the shipping is not fast, but you really cannot beat the price. I prefer Futaba radios, and you can get a decent Futaba pistol 2.4GHz from Tower for well under $200. Use EasyPay and you can spread it out over 3 payments. For a servo, you have quite a few options, and really depends on how much you want to spend. I went with Savox, which isn't the cheapest, but dollar for dollar it's the best, IMO (much cheaper than an equivalent metal gear digital Futaba servo).
Hey, I'm getting it slowly put together!
If I can get enough time to myself tonight, I should be able to finish it up.

You'd need the kit, battery, radio w/steering servo, and charger. Of course, other small things like tools for assembly, paint for the body, etc.

The RC8Be uses metric hardware.
I'm probably the wrong person to ask about option and spare parts.
I'd at least buy a diff o-ring package, as the kits are still coming with the old black inner diff o-rings (new o-ring packages use the clear o-rings) and the AE 10x1.1 tapered shock pistons. Probably a selection of shock oil and diff oil since the kit only comes with 25W shock oil and 5k diff oil.
I'd also buy a spare shock rebuild set, and another set of diff o-rings so you have them handy when the shocks and diffs need to be rebuilt. Also, if you want to use some of the setups that have been posted, you might have to get some springs, as the kit only comes with bronze front and black rear springs. Also, IIRC, it only comes with silver sway bars front and rear.
I went a little crazy with mine and bought a bunch of AE FT parts (aluminum front and rear hubs, stub axles, gearbox input cups, front and rear chassis braces, along with a CF steering rack and CF center diff plate). Obviously you don't need all that stuff, and I went a little overboard.

Like I said...except for Billy.
Also I got the email back from Tower Hobbies. They credited me the $20 price change. So I would do it quick. I emailed, but I'm sure calling would get it done just the same. I had the email reply before I even woke up this morning. So they were quick.
Also I ordered my charger last night from epbuddy. Ive gotten 5 emails from them already and a tracking number for my package that came at 5:30 this morning. I ordered a 4S 5000mah 40c pack from hobbypartz. They haven't even charged my card yet. So far epbuddy is highly recommended.

Gregg, thanks for the info on Tower and EPBuddy. Good to know. BTW, can you PM me the email address that you used for Tower? I can't seem to find one on their web site. I'd call, but I'm a bit busy at work today.

I paid $359 shipped for my kit from Tower with the Super Saver Club discount. its now $50 versus $60 so you're looking at $9.99 for super saver, get the super saver codes off the post I posted earlier and you're at $369 for the kit, no tax, shipped to the door. $259 for the mamba monster, just make a separate order and use the coupon code again. And from Tower the Kit and the mamba monster is on easy pay. Its like $180 a month for 3 months.
Kit Tower $369
MMM 2200 Tower $259
Spektrum radio with Rec $99
steering servo $60
Lipo from hobby king $60
$847 unless you need a lipo charger, in which you can get one pretty cheap.
Billy, how long did it take for the HK Lipos to come in?
