Default drive pins

if the bone rides in the out drives.. will it hurt if one is alittle longer than the other?

for example.. assuming their both 3mm pins, ones longer than the other.. only needing to stock 1 size pin..

and part number verification please.
I just rebuilt my drive train and used the pins for the wheel hexes, just cut them down to size with a dremel set up with a cutoff wheel. You can get them in the Losi drive pin set or you can even use some of your old pins if they are in fairly good shape. On the ft dogbones i left them long (stick out of the drive) it doesn't hit anything, it even might help out if it decides to walk out some(which happened to me a few weeks back) on the rears I did cut them to size 'cause it comes too close to the diff housing when the suspension is fully compressed, on the ft and rear center dogbones I cut'em to size using an old center diff outdrive as a guide so they don't stick out too far and hit the brake rotors. It takes very little work and saves a few bucks.

That's a bit of fabricating for a couple of pins, but man I have to hand it to you because I have done some serious fabricating myself. In the 80s (no internet) I fabricated some knuckles for an electric Grasshopper. A friend of mine was an apprentice machinist at the time and if I recall correctly, we had a blast making them.

Man thats what it's all about, you gotta use your noodles to make stuff unless you got deeeeep pockets, I try to make my own stuff whenever possible. It gives more satisfaction when you see a final product and know that you made it happen.

Bone pins should NOT be larger then the out drive. It Will wear the out drive faster.

i just rebuilt ALL my diffs and for some reason the REAR 1( no matter how many times i take it a part and try again) seems to be real notchy INSIDE the diff(the 1 with the oil in it lol)....it spins great then grabs the gears are not worn and there is PLENTY of fluid in there....its wierd....i can only feel it when diff is in my hand...but when installed it seems fine...i havent fired the motor to see if it will make noise but it seems fine when i do all the diff tests with the truck OFF, but on the ground with 1 wheel on the ground and 1 not( all the tests seem fine)....oh well just wondering...

I just rebuilt mine and the same thing happened with the rear. I have ran about a half-gallon through it and it runs great. No problems. It seems like it has to wear in a little.

hey guys i am building up a second clutch and i have some springs that i cant tell if they are the black or greens. If i hold them next to a light source i get a greenish shimmer off of them. but in low light they look kinda black. Any ideas on which ones they are guys?
