It's not. Besides it's not a long time ago when some US based engine "manufacturer" claimed Alpha has copied their engine so get your fact's straight

GO is GO and also makes MM MG66 and parts for the Precirotate and they are nice engines. Alpha is Alpha and they also make Dynamite XPE and Argus among some other. Alpha has different internals and carb and performance characteristics than GO so you really can't say they would be even close. If engine has same bore and stroke and same length rod it does not make it same engine.

I think what they mean is that some of the Alpha components are outsourced from the GO factory. It's not a GO engine, but some of it is made at GO (as are a lot of parts for many Taiwanese engines).
The Alpha was originally based on the Gen 5 GO 5 Port design though, as the guy who started Alpha was one of the chief designers at GO before he left to start up his own company.

But your quite right - after some morphing over the last couple of years, Alpha is now distinctly Aplha, and GO is distinctly GO, no question of that.

All the Taiwanese motors perform really well, so if anybody should be upset on here it's the guys who are still paying mega dollars for their European mills, then getting their arses kicked by the cheaper Taiwanese motors .
I believe world wide sales are swinging strongly towards the way of the cheaper, powerful and reliable Taiwanese options.

I have a question for you guys.... Does anyone in here run these GO engines at an altitude of 5,000 feet or above? I am curious what your doing to get power out of them as I have seen several GO's run up here and one was in the hands of a team driver from Texas, and I have not seen the power you all are speaking of with these mills.

Are people pulling out headshims on engines at sea level at all?

the genral formula for power loss with increases in altitude is 3% for every 1000 ft above sea level

I have been racing at altitude for 5 years I know what happens with the power. This is why I am asking about GO's not engines in general.

the general formula for power loss with increases in altitude is 3% every 1000 ft above sea level if you race in colorado at 5000 ft instead of california at sea level you can expect to loose 15% power output out of your engine if the engine is tuned proper, running at higher altitude requires a leaner mixture setting than running at sea level, tune accordingly for good performance.
