I'm no salesman and I'm sure you already know what I'm going to say, but I'll post it anyway since you asked.

lol, i feel OS needs to send a extra rod with there engines, i have had many, and all seem to need a new rod after break in. and that is recommend by them also! i pretty much have made my point here, if it was a "what motor is best thread", there would have been 40 posts by now!!!!!!! with a bunch of salesman posting there engines, but i guess they dont want to be noticed on this form of thread....LMAO!!!! OS is on my list! but will want a extra rod if i decide to buy from them!!!!!!!
As for recommending a rod change, almost every brand recommends it.

Have you used the speed type rods? They're much better than the v-spec rods and are standard equipment on the new XZ-B. I find these rods last as long as any other brand. There's no question that the v-spec rods are terrible, but the new ones are much better.

Shouldn't be anymore issues.I change rods in all of my engines no matter what brand after a gallon or so. Novarossi, RB, OS, etc... To me it is a worthwhile practice. One thing that is nice about OS is you don't have to fork out $60 for a rod.

Well, not EVERY time, but there's no denying that the v-spec rods were sub-par. The speed rods have always been fine. A lot of the v-spec problems came from the oiling hole system used. Instead of being in the rod like it should be the oiling hole was in the crank pin... BAD idea.
