lol, i feel OS needs to send a extra rod with there engines, i have had many, and all seem to need a new rod after break in. and that is recommend by them also! i pretty much have made my point here, if it was a "what motor is best thread", there would have been 40 posts by now!!!!!!! with a bunch of salesman posting there engines, but i guess they dont want to be noticed on this form of thread....LMAO!!!! OS is on my list! but will want a extra rod if i decide to buy from them!!!!!!!

Have you used the speed type rods? They're much better than the v-spec rods and are standard equipment on the new XZ-B. I find these rods last as long as any other brand. There's no question that the v-spec rods are terrible, but the new ones are much better.

As for recommending a rod change, almost every brand recommends it.;)

glad OS has fixed the rod problem, a few company's add a new rod with here engines, which is a awsome idea!!!!!!! if OS did that can you imagine how many mills they would sell because of that?!?!? TONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most good motors dont need to come with an extra rod ;) Ive got 9 gallons on my plus 4 with the same rod. now she is getting pinched for a practice motor. and i am using the same rod still tight. always preheat the motor does wonders:nod:

Well, not EVERY time, but there's no denying that the v-spec rods were sub-par. The speed rods have always been fine. A lot of the v-spec problems came from the oiling hole system used. Instead of being in the rod like it should be the oiling hole was in the crank pin... BAD idea. Shouldn't be anymore issues.

I change rods in all of my engines no matter what brand after a gallon or so. Novarossi, RB, OS, etc... To me it is a worthwhile practice. One thing that is nice about OS is you don't have to fork out $60 for a rod.;)
