J What's the difference between the S09 & R09 Tuned versions

Crankshaft.
S09 = 14mm diameter
R09 = 14.5mm diameter

That's about the only difference between them.

They say the R09 will have a slightly better acceleration while improving fuel consumption.
They are nearly the same. I would've thought:
R09 = race
S09 = sport ^.^

That's correct. Also, the S09 is a little cheaper. My son and I prefer the R09 because it has the best combo of power and fuel economy.

For the .21 R09 go with nova 2015 and medium manifold

The new MAX with the new conical shaped head has the 14.5mm crankshaft, tholder XL9 TQ9 models have the 14mm crankshaft

i have the older 14,mm. would it be benificial to throw that into a novarossi kangaroo tuned? as the crank has loads of work into it, was suggested to me by someone with a few lightyears more of experience than me..lol. kinda like yourself Roe!!

If the crankpin is still in a good shape I would do that!
Just use the original crankshaft to run it in so the crankpin of the MAX will be spared from again a lot of forces. But a Kangaroo tuned could have a more advanced timing, I would go for a standard if you want to change the crankshaft.
