Thanks !! I learn something new every day . I had always used all four mounting holes on my wings; it just seemed more secure that way and that's what it looks like they're doing in the kit instructions. I guess I have some changes to make to both my RC8B vehicles, LOL.

One last question, is the gear mesh set with the same parameters as a Nitro clutch bell? In other words, you want to get it as close to the spur as possible while retaining a half a click of free movement back and forth between the teeth on the spur and pinion? This plastic spur gear makes me nervous; It just doesn't seem like it's going to hold up to the power and torque of this motor/battery output.

Don't worry about the plastic spur gear, Set your mesh right and your good to go. Been running one for 2 years with a Tekin 2050,Never have had a problem.

I'm about to receive a Tekin T8 2050kV motor and MMP ESC to run in my RC8Be. Was wondering if I'm right in assuming 18/46 gearing would be the way to go. I'd mostly be running it on 4S, with 3S being a possibility when on small tracks. Thanks to all who give input!

I'm running a 15tooth with mine. RC8Be with tekin 2050. It has plenty of power and speed. Good temps too.

On the Tekin RX8 thread on here, Randy Pike told me that for an RC8Be with my 1900kv and a 4S battery to run now lower than an 18 tooth pinion. He said these systems do not like being under geared. I went with a 19 tooth but I've not had the chance to run my new set-up yet.

Quick question. Can you fit two 2 cell packs in these? Maybe on their sides? Thanks

I believe that. Anything below the 17T I've tried (the biggest I've been able to get so far) just seemed too slow on the top end. That's with the same 46T spur and a MMM 2200 system. I'm just trying to pin down the best one, since these pinions are so expensive. Thanks for your input.

I ran the 2050 for 16 months. 18 or 19 on indoor tracks and 19 or 20 on outdoor tracks. Just picked up a 1900 (since I mainly run on indoor tracks) and wished I'd made the switch a long time ago. At 19/46 with the 1900, I'm turning the same lap times I did with the 2050 at 18/46 or 19/46....But the buggy is way easier to drive, the temps are cooler, and I think I can shave some tenths off my lap times with some more practice.

I got one with the RC8Te CE I bought a couple weeks ago, and have since installed it in my buggy (since I sold the truggy). Dude, you will absolutely never use any other motor mount again. It may seem pricey now, but think about this- remove ONE screw, and your motor slides right out. Need to make a gear-mesh change? Simply loosen that same screw, slide the motor to where it needs to be, and re-tighten. That's IT.

Never again will you have to remove the entire motor mount by means of the two screws securing it to the chassis, then the two long screws holding the front diff supports in place, just to get to the motor (without using a dreaded L-wrench, that is). Plus, a bearing is included which further supports the motor shaft as it sits in the mount, protecting your expensive investment in a way no other mount offers.

Just be sure to use only short pinions, because the ones from Associated are too long, and will go beyond your spur gear. Robinson Racing pinions work great. The side of the pinion on which the screw secures it faces towards the motor when use with an Elite-RC mount. You also need to have preferably 1/2" of shaft length available to mount the pinion.

Get one, dude. You will absolutely love it.

Thank you very much. I'll be looking to try a 1900 if I can. I assume the answer is yes, but just to be clear- were you running it sensored, or sensorless? My setup (which is in the mail, due Wednesday) is a Castle MMP and the Tekin 2050.
