You can either use a spurgear that has holes in it or use a reamer or a drill bit to make a hole for the motor screw.

In order to take the diff out you need to open 5 screws and pop the shocks bottoms off. Pretty easy IMO

The outdrives are hard anodized aluminum.

They are in the same spots so you can use the body from your TC5.


I think there will be a gear diff for the car at some point. Not sure when it will be available. I think the car kit should be available in October but I'm not sure about that.

Drilling a hole through a spur gear is a nice was to get it "unbalanced".

Also, from the pic below, it looks like you only need to remove 4 screws to get to the diff and there should be enough clearance so that the shock bottoms don't need to get removed, no?

I havent noticed the hole making any difference. If you think it will you can always drill another hole on the opposite side

You can probably key the diff out even with the shocks attached but its a lot easier if you unbolt the tops or pop the bottoms off and also open one of the toplinks on either side.

Thanks for pointing that out! The last time i looked at the cost of a Tamiya TC i was on Tower and it was like $700 and some change. Im not sure which one it was though... im not up on Tamiya kit model #'s. I wanna say it was a 415MSX?

Well did some testing with the Tc6 and you will all be happy. So far so good. Trying to shake the rust off with not running tc in a while. But so far very happy with the car. Can not wait for Vegas to give it a shot.

Well. Since you run so much we would have to see. But the rust is flying off fast

I don't run that much these days and it's been mostly 17.5 so our show down would have to be in that class I'm not sure if my mod finger is up to par.

I know right!!! Damn that's tempting.....

With new cars popping up every six months and costing racers $400 plus it's nice to see something affordable hit the market again.
