Here's the best thing I ever did for my marriage, create a budget.

I opened a new bank account, one for me and one for my wife. Both of those accounts get $350 each deposited into them each month. So that's our play money. I have $350 per month to spend on anything I want and she has no care or reason to question what I spend it on, same for her. She spends her money on what she wants.
It works great. I know what I have to spend. It's not a ton of money, but it's more than sufficient. If what I want or need is more than I have, I wait, and I prioritize.

Bam, no more fights, still no booty either.

350 a month isnt bad though i would complain, yeah if you want a new kit it would take 2 months with no racing unless you already have fuel but still not bad. Im always broke just enough to buy fuel and race lol i make my money by selling my old gear and kits.

I'm a student with no income and I race 1/8th scale. I always ask money for my birthday/new year and I get the money that my parents give to my sister to go on holidays. We race on astroturf and I'm happy that those harder compound tires last very long on it. I think I spend this year 2500euro ~3150$. I buy most of my stuff second hand. This year I bought this brand new kit and other stuff that was worth 1250euro for 500euro. That was an onroad guy that's was going to try offroad. He didn't like it when he drove his friends buggy and sold everything. The buggy wasn't even build so I did a very good job on that one. If I could make that nice deal I was still racing a Losi 1.0...

the initial buy kills me i buy the car used or new and buy enough parts to completeley rebuild it and then some buy fluids, plugs, motor and its a one time shot at the start of the season. then thru the months of racing i buy the parts that i may need then fuel and tires adds upto about 120 a month i help build my local track so i get to race for free thats a plus
i really look for deals on the net thru ebay here where ever it may be its cheaper than my lhs i think the only thing i get out of my lhs is fuel and a hlf hour of talking

I'm very aware of what I spend a month on RC. It makes me sick to think what else I could do with the money, but it wouldn't make me as happy. That's my justification.

Its the little things that add up that really kill the budget. 30$ here, 20 here, another 30 dollars. Its never ending. My name is Dennis Jendry, and I'm an RCaholic.

budget!!! what is a budget??? i use to drag race now that was $$$ wasted... every pass down the strip was 400-500 bucks.... if a nitrous valve stuck bam there goes a motor.. that was $15000 a motor... so my wife likes the idea of the rc racing... when she starts to complain about the rc racing, i start working on the drag car saying i am going to start big car racing again... then she thinks twice about the rc racing saying it is ok....

budget is what you make of it... keep it as a hobby/sport that you like to enjoy.. you will always do better if you enjoy what you are doing... jeremy
