Yeah they will get a little sloppy. I just leave them be. They haven't failed on me yet.

you could try a cap head screw a thick one, with the washer under it that might take some of the play out.

You do not need to regulate, they work very well, they are light and they fit perfectly in the Losi with the hump pack cover. Look here:http://www.cobrarc.info/BATTERY-S.html

and then e-mail Angelo at: [email protected]

You can specifically ask him what you need and he will set you up. The products are coming from Australia and take about 10 business days to arrive.

i'll email for sure.. what voltage are these LiFe packs? i know my charger can do it.. its one of the programs on the LCD, but i know it has to be a different voltage than lipo.

::edit also, can LiFe packs be ran dead? or do you need a voltage cut off, like with lipo and swell your packs?

Dave I use these horns from racers edge. They are way overkill but never bend or have issues like other horns.

Default Engine Failure

Ok I have done a bit of asking around and checked a few things out on my truck to find the cause of the rear main bearing failures that I have had.

One of the engine guys that I deal with had seen this before and suggested that I check the engine mount is flat, as this causes the crank case to warp and stresses the bearing causing it to fail.

I have just finished checking the mount that I had in there and found that there was a small amount of wobble in the motor when it is on the mount and that the top blocks were touching the side of the crank case. This happened on both the motors that I tryed.

So I put the standard mounts on (for the first time in the truggys life) and the wobble went away. At the moment the root cause appears to be my engine mount. This will take time to verify as the failures were a few months apart and we are now moving into winter here.

I am still working out what to do with the quick change mount that I just took off, and I also have a king headz extended mount now to.

For anybody that is interested this article gives an overview of engine mounting:

Thanks for the help I will try and keep this updated

Those racer edge throttle horns are very good and with a bit of drilling and mucking around as the allloy is thicker than the plastic they work very well...they also look sweet with the matching steering horn

Is it the losi quick change mount that is giving you issues? What engines are you running? I know with some engines, it is required that you grind some material off of the inside of the mounting blocks. You have to put a pretty good sized chamfer on the upper inside edge of the blocks. Just use a dremmel and sanding drum to slowly remove the material. That should solve your issues. You shouldn't have any issues with the KHZ mount. They don't need to be modified.

Dave I run the stock stuff and tighten the screws up. I'm scared to use ca glue it might stick in the wrong place. When it gets too sloppy I replace the linkage. I have the double sided racers edge horn but I just haven't modded it to fit. Too busy doing maintence I guess.

Let us know how it goes with the Racer's Edge horn.

The final voltage that my charger reads on them is 6.6 volts. Life packs can be run dead, the packs will not swell. However, it is recommended by several manufacturers that you cycle the packs for approximately 20 times before you start pushing them that far. Run them for an hour and charge them up again. It is never a good idea to run a receiver pack dead though, who wants a runaway car? Life packs last longer than Lipo as far as cycle life is concerned.
