Anyone have a dyno of a stock JL and also anyone have a dyno of a modded JL? I'm the type that resides upon factual information... I'm happy to send my incoming JL to have modifications but I need to see some sort of results. I know it will be faster but that means nothing to me on a race track.. I'm more concerned about a broader power-band and mileage(which mods don't help in most cases).
If anyone has dynos post them!
If anyone has dynos post them!
If you are interested in a mod on it,then just get in touch with Neal at Clockworks or any modder of your choice and discuss the pro's and con's of a mod motor. I'm sure if they're reputable they can ease your mind on what to expect.

some feed back...
i have tested many pipes on my engine but its on a very wide open track... so here is my feed back
the bullit 1005... good power but it seems to top out and have a lacking for something
werks 2013... this thing is killer on this engine... great bottom and top and not to mention it s sounds great.. run times suffered a bit..
jp3... almost the same as the werks 2013 but better mileage...
then i decided to try the 9901 with the short mugen style header from nova... and this thing had the most top end ever.. soft bottom and the best runtime for the track i was on... now i have to say it suits my driving style and the track i was on did not require to much power down low...
this is in a D8t
i would also like to mention that i pulled away from everyone on the back straight and from straight.. no matter what they were running...
by the way ... its the Clockwork JL

All motor's require small adjustment's here or there to go from 1 car to the next.....As off road god said Make sure the linkage is level and not binding up the carb....loosen the carb pinch bolt and also the actual carb ball to acheive the proper angle/pull...and again Make SURE its smooth and everything works properly Prior to trying to firing up the motor.

Why do you think that you need a better carb?
I have ran almost a gallon and a half of fuel
through my Clockwork JL and have never had to touch
the idle screw. The Hi and Low speed screws
have only required very minor tweeks since the
first time the engine hit the starterbox wheel.
I own alot of nitro engines and the JL one of
the easiest to tune that I have ever owned.
I don't know and never asked Neal if he ever
pre-set the carb screws on this engine. I know
I told him I didn't need the carb modified for
venturi changes, so I don't think he did anything
to the carb. I do know that I told him that i'm very
happy with the JL and as with all my Clockwork
engines, It freakin screams.

I got a JL after fighting with two used engines I bought and for me (new to nitro) when I didn't have "help" tuning it I got it to run great. I just ordered a clockworks motor and found out talking with them that I may have my idle gap too big. If that works I will have tuned it right, the first time i can say that.
I can't wait to get the clocked motor!

When I first saw how small the idle gap was set
on my JL, right out of the box, I thought I was
going to be twisting screws right from the start.
But to my suprise, I have never touched the idle
gap screw. It fired up as soon a it hit the starterbox
wheel and has idled just right ever since.
I always like to run a little colder glowplug that most
do. The Picco med. turbo plug and the Dynamite #7
med. turbo plug run great in my Clockwork JL.
