Wow ! there is no need to argue over this LOL ! I almost feel I am being persecuted because I modify engines....and unfortunately this isn't the first time......... I sometimes get the feeling I am being judged based off what others have claimed about their modified engines...other modders and customers in general..... I know there are kinds of crazy claims made about modified engines, and I also know some people don't buy any of it...... Unfortunately for me I seem to get grouped right into the bad side of modded engines and all the surrounding hype........
First thing I would like to say is that I don't make all kinds of wild claims about my engines, I don't make any grand promises about fuel mileage, in fact I usually tell my customers they may lose fuel mileage....I also never, ever, ever tell people that a modified engine is going to make them faster on the track then a stock engine....I do not feel you need a modified engine to race, truth be told 90% ont he engines on the market are overkill for what you need to race...Heck a simple Dynamite .21 is more then enough to win a race...a great driver can take pretty much any engine and win with it, people buy fancy engines because they want them, not that they actually need them...I would say 80% of club racers run engines with more power then they will ever need........Unfortunately It really does bug me that I seem to get pinned and judged for making all these wild claims that I have never made, as that is not me and not what I stand for at all....
I make engines faster ! plain and simple..All of my engines rip and rip hard..they make excessive power and are tons of fun to open up...Without question the modded engines are far more exciting then their stock counterparts, they run cooler, they pull harder , they rev higher and they even sound different...In many cases the modified engines will effortlessly clear obstacles the stock counterpart struggles with...My engines make awesome power even on a richer tune, they do not need to be leaned down to make good power....In some cases the modified version will use slightly more fuel then the stock version... However almost everyone who runs my engines will take the effortless power over the slight runtime loss anyways...Many racers have done extremely well with my engines, so its not like them being modded has made them any less competitive then they were stock......So I will make this clear, if you want a really ripping engine with performance that will stand out in a crowd I can help you..... My engines are not needed to win a race, they offer no real track advantage over stock other then having more speed and power....However even with that being said I have a very high rate of return customers, so I must be doing something right.....My engines may not be needed to win any races, but there is no denying they all flat out scream ! many people just like to have a really fast engine, as they are out there to have fun, and the modified engines are usually a pile more fun !
I have very fair prices and I also have top notch customer service, I take very good care of all of my customers and do everything in my power to see to it they get the full potential out of their engines... My service goes beyond what anyone is ever going to find buying from a big box store, I deal with each and every customer on a personal level, and I truly believe I have made the hobby much more enjoyable for them by doing so....
I hope this clears up any misconceptions people may have had about me and what I stand for..

No big deal, we are going to have simple drag race for fun
I am and have been a budget minded racer since I began racing, I have always run stock, cheap engines and see no advantages to modded engines, this is only my opinion and express it freely. Fuel economy is the name of the game these days, thats the other reason I moved on to the force line, more power and longevity are nice bonuses

Now from my perspective the JL makes a fantastic engine for my needs as well..It is well built, it is priced great, parts are affordable and the engines design works very well with my style of modifications.... With this engine I can give my customers top level performance at a great price.... It may not be needed for racing, but my modified JL's are extremely fast engines, they have a wicked powerband from bottom to top... plenty of torque and a never ending top end....Bang for the buck it is unmatched IMO...Of course there is nothing at all wrong with the stock JL at all, it is an excelent engine all on its own..... However I also feel it makes a great candidate for modding purposes as it delivers extremely impressive power and RPM in its modified form..... Seriously for the $250.00 I charge for these engines a person is getting a huge amount of performance for the dollar.....I have run this engine in both its stock and modified form and I can tell you there is a significant increase in output....Myself I really like screamy modified engines,I find most stock engines to be lacking...I can't think the last time a bone stock engine ever made me say wow. For the most part all the competition .21's are rather tame and mild...Sure they will do what it takes to win races, but that is not what I am after with my work at all..... I agree my modified JL is not needed to win races, and i agree it may not get quite the mileage of a stocker, but I will say this tho, its going to take one hell of a fast engine to pull on my modified JL, and certainly nothing your going to find anywhere near $250.00 that is for sure.....So if someone is into really fast engines then I offer one hell of a bargain with my modified JL.....I am all about value as well, and IMO the JL offers one of the best on the market, in both stock and modified form !

Like I said before you should start your own thread about clockworks racing engines, I sterted this one for the stock JL and you sort of took over with modded motors are better and faster bla, bla. I wont be buggin with you in there, trust me.

My friend runs a clockwork JL and i do know for a fact that it runs way better than stock. Now with that being said on most tracks you can win anyday with a box stock engine. If you're good the extra power can yield better runtimes if you can restrain the trigger.

1st track day out with the jl...this thing is soo awsome..never flamed out ran under 200 most of the day...felt like it was hoter but still can be leaned more.... smoked everything down the striaght, and guys where amazed how no mater how much i full throttle this beast, soon as i let off to go to a coner it will dorp down to a dead idle...this thing does not hang a idle...its awsome
took the win yesterday 7 sec faster than the 2nd place person...motor came off runing 180 after a 30min main, felt like 220!!(i am goin to lean it more).. i got 9 min out of it one pit, but the rest was around 8:45 since it was still rich, i didnt want to push it..running 7mm insert and jp1 pipe (btw: this motor only has about a total of 15 tanks on it, 5 tanks from when i brought it out there saterday, i am sure run times will get better)

not sure.. i it was a extreme rc mods jl out there and it ran nothing like mine...flame outs and hanging idle...
the stock one runs good too, but the modded one turns head..and thats the whole point of a moded motor...

We get it, you don't like modded engines. Give it up. You're not going to win this battle. I don't see why you want these guys out of "your" thread so bad. It seems to me that the guys providing the most good info in this thread are the ones running the modded engines. After all, even if it is modded, the engine is still a JL, so it still qualifies for this thread.
By the way, Good Job Reggie!

I've been reading this thread for awhile now and I'm sold I will be ordering a JL "MODDED" engine real soon I believe modded engines are the way to go I know it will lower my lap times. There is a local guy at my track with a stock JL and that thing runs like crap! I told him just get it modded duh
