I have yet to see anything but a black putty. I got a new engine straight from AE on there last shippment and it had black putty. I have never had one come out but I know someone that had it happen and they cleaned the engine out and is running it without the putty and it runs fine.

What plugs are you guys using? The P3 & RT3 will give you a bad idle and crappy top end.

Try the P4, RT4 or OD97T for better idle and all around performance.

P4 is super hot and P3 is ultra hot

Its normal for a LHS to tell you to run a P3, a lot of other engine run their best with a P3. For the the Reedy it likes the P4, RT4 and OD97T. I normally run the OD97T, its better than the P4 for me. Also the OS plugs and Reedy plugs are the same.

A little update, I've got about 2 gallons on my reedy in my buggy, put the extra shim under the head and took the other 2 out, all I can say is holey hell!

This thing is so fast I cant stop in time for the corner, I'm hooked, will never buy another motor again.

Hey joey, I totally forgot to look you up at silverstate, How'd you do?

Hi guys - I plan to run my new Reedy on 25% Nitrox fuel - do I have to put in the extra shim that came in the box?

Also, I just read the "break in bible" thread is this the best way to break this engine in? Or is the "old school method" better?

Thanks......

You'll be fine with the shimming that's already in the engine for the 25%. Once you get her broken in, then you could remove the shims that were installed in the engine and then install the one that was extra in the box. And you'll be good to go. That's what I was told and I'm just passing on the knowledge.

My 3rd round of qualifying was my best run, I was 4th fastest over all. Having 14 minutes of practice time to get used to the outdoors again was a little tough and also trying to adjust the car for the track. My first two rounds I was 28, 25 and the 3rd giving me that 4th, placed me 4th in the B. I jumped out early but after getting hit in the HSN, it broke off. It was a hard hit, so I cant say the Reedy was weak by any means. I had a great time and will be out there next year also.

As for the setups, I ran my Leisure Hours outdoor setup the fist round. Shane's setup the second round, was good but I broke a shock end. Third round and the main I ran Cav's setup. Which I don't know if it has been posted yet.

Thats sucks about the HSN, I ended up in the C main for pro buggy, was plagued with radio problems in the 2nd and 3rd round of qualifying, so bleh to that.. I will be back next year for sure, I was back 2 weeks later for the final round of our point series which was run on the same track, and was running much better, you doing any other west coast races this year?

I was told by an associated driver to put the shim in after like a gallon of 30%

I've not ran mine in a race yet its still really new, so its still getting broke in but I'm running the 13t in my losi 2.0
