I thought about getting the CRF but i've heard from numerous people that the orion motors are finiky to tune and you have to have a perfect tune on them to get them to run good. I'm not the best tuner in the world so i've talked myself out of getting one. I just wanted to confirm that they are fairly hard to tune for the average tuner. Also what's the CRF getting for gas mileage?

Thanks, Garrett

Who ever told you Orion engines are hard to tune is full of bull. Trust me they are much easier than 21-4 you're running right now.

ok so there is like 3 different versions of the alpha 3 port..
econo, ceramic bearing, and the pimped out one....
my question is is there a fuel mileage difference in the 3??
or just the smoothness factor
with the 2013 pipe

Default CRF US Spec vs "New" CRF Alpha 3 port

I posted a thread regarding these two motors, but didnt get much feedback.

I currently run a Nova +4 and get 8-8:30 minutes. i want a new motor and I am trying to decide between the CRF US Spec and the "new" CRF Alpha 3 port. I heard the new CRF Alpha 3 port has an updated carb, and new crank and port design. Anyone ran both? Does the 3 port make as much power as the US Spec? If I am only getting 8 minutes on a +4, how much runtime would I get on each one of these motrs, running a 2013 pipe? Is one a picco and is one sirio made? Is one better quality than the other? I definately want something with more power than my +4.

Thx Guys
David

Wait stupid me didn't read your post right.

Are you talking about the picco based or sirio based orion?

Default motors

Ok guys i run for team orion. If you can get a really good deal on the older abi motor ,those are good motors. But i don't know how part support is for them. I personally run a 3 port crf abi in bugggy that is still breaking in. These motors like PK says take awhile to break in but you can still race them as they break in. You will see the motor run rich all of the sudden, after you have a good tune. The biggest problem is people tune themselves out of the power and temp range ,small turns on the needle are best. My personal 3 port was getting around 9.30 at revalations raceway on a dry track in my mp9. This with the motor still running rich. I also have 5 port crf abi true motor that i ran also at revalations and is pretty much broke in. The five port was on the track for 11.20 in the mp9 with the stock venturi and 2013 pipe. I run pro and people that know me know i like to drive my cars hard. I know a sportsman driver should have no problem going 9 min with either motor with the 2013. Just make sure you turn the needles on the motor and don't let 5 people show you what they think you should do. Be patient and if you have a issue try to grab another Pro or someone who has some motor knowledge if you get lost . PM me if you need some help or if you are local to So cal Area.

Yes, Team Orion Alpha engines sweep the buggy podium at Silver State. Let me tell you, our engine was unreal. We were on the 9 minute pit schedule because of 45 min main, and we took less than 100cc fuel. The 3 port I have no doubt can give us a chance to get to the promised land in November.

I'm new on the Orion motors so i have no clue. What's the all around best for mostly short technical tracks power as well as mileage wise. I'm wanting to get 10 minutes at least and i'll be happy! what orion does tebo run?

Good luck guys. I know Team Orion drivers can bring back the win.

If you're looking for mileage and crazy bottom end power go with the Alpha CRF 3 port and 2013 pipe.

What's the fuel mileage for that pipe and motor? I saw someone said it would get about 9:30..

Default pipes

I have used the 2066 but feel the 2013 is the best all around pipe for the crf abi motors and abi motor. I only used the 2066 on the us spec motors . I think the 2013 is the standard kinda like a 2050 is to a OS.
