Actually, I didn't notice anything since I wasn't there to witness it first hand! What I did notice however, is that you claim to have had 2 front bearings go, on 2 different brands of engines, at approximately the same time. The only common factor being you, and the fuel. You can say that the GO Tech stayed running, but that wasn't the issue and doesn't take away from the point being made!

I assume from the way you correspond with Mark from Massive Mods, that you are local to him, and see him on a regular basis. I can only judge his fuel by what others have said, but I believe your opinion of it is somewhat bias.

I have over 4 gallons on my older version B5 and I don't think I've even seen the bearing leak. Which is a lot more than I can say for every GO or O.S. engine I've ever owned!

For all we know you could have poor maintenance habits like spraying Nitro cleaner behind your flywheel or worse, something like WD40, which through capillary action, will draw dirt and dust right through the bearing seals!

My point is, it's hard to blame the product when you've had 2 failures, on 2 different mills, at roughly the same time! Especially when there are so many other factors to consider!

I took the clutch assembly and flywheel off last night to put a 4-shoe on, and guess what I saw on the front bearing? Nothing! I've got a little over 2 gallons on it now and it still runs great.

Yep! I think I have the oldest B5's on here at over 6 gallons on 'em..lol and on both mine bearings are perfect with no leaks, no rod slop and still good compression. I am just now breaking in my 3rd B5 for when one of these goes, just to be ready.

I think everyone on here can now confidently say that the B5 actually not only is as good as , but is better in performance AND reliability than most $300 + engines out there!!

Without the 1+ gallon breaK in and the rod and bearing replacement shortly after break in with a lot of other engines require.

Thanks for the feedback about the pipes guys.

I've been watching Brett Kingsbury, a top Florida Pro driver run the B5 at the last couple of races and it absolutely rips, idles great and never flames out. That sold me on the motor as I was a little worried about the price. I should be getting mine tomorrow, cant wait.

Default break in update

So I'm up to 10 tanks thru and wanna share how awesome this engine is....

Break-in is pretty boring so I try to practice driving, cutting corners as close as possible to the curb, etc. So during my 10th tank I cut it too close and my front tire caught the curb and broke the rod end on my upper front arm.

The engine is so awesome that it never flamed while I fixed the rod end!!! Think about how much time that was to walk back to the patio, take off the tire, find out what was wrong, go in the house to find the part, take off the old, put on the new, and reinstall the tire. The engine held the idle the entire time and it's only on tank 10. I never blipped it during this time it just held a nice consistent steady idle!!!!

With the wheel back on I blipped the throttle a few times, set her down and drove off to finish off the tank.

Frickin' awesome engine!!!!

Well got my Amain delivery today My Werks 2057 pipe and the Werks 6501 carbon shoe clutch kit. Anybody have any pointers on what spring and how tight to adjust it? Still undecided on what fuel to run , probably Oddonell or Byrons.

Talk about a boring breakin...I'm usually chasing down the truck after it flames and constantly checking temps....Drove circles in my driveway for 2 hours with no flames - temps never got over 200.

A lot easier than my last motor breakin - Go .21 was a PITA!

Ron, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate all the advice, and I think I will go ahead and try one of your pipes. I will also purchase an additional venturi or two for tunig purposes and not to focus so much on just run time alone. Thanks again! Steve

Thanks guys for all of the great comments, I'm really happy to hear that everyone is enjoying their engines!

RC-ZOMBIE, no worries I plan on making the B5 for quite a while!

nitroxr, thanks for picking up one of our clutches. Just follow the directions that came with it, they are pretty spot on! Gold spring and start flush should put you right in the ballpark. If you make adjustments start with 1/2 turn increments and I'm going to guess that you will not need any more than 1/2 turn in from flush to be set!

stvnmcc, good to hear. Please let me know what you think once you get a chance to run one of our pipes!
