Man I justy opened up the rear diff in my mud bog truggy and theres no rust at all. A little on the center driveshaft but none on the r/p. Are you guys using any grease or just running them dry? The gearbox was clean and dry inside. IDK what you guys are doing to let dirt into the gearbox. Do you put a little layer of grease around the edges of the gearbox to keep the dust out??

Frank,

I use the Losi High Pressure Black grease for the edges of the Diff boxes. If I don't have any of that I will use the Losi Smart Diff Grease. They both work great and keep the dust and dirt out.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic. (The pink stuff). You can get about 5 years worth for $5 bucks. I also use it on the r/p gears with no issues. I even ran the stuff in smart diff's. It seemed a little more consistent for me.

NO clue how that much water got in there....but i had little droplets of mud water inside the case....my R+P was rusted pretty good..the grease was a real funny color.....you must have gotten lucky with the timing of your race...remember i was the first race up when it started to Rain Rain....not that trickle race 1-3 got....and you later guys got the wet sticky mud....so i can see how you would have less water and more mud.....i would assume the compressor spitting 1/2 air 1/2 rusty water probably didn't help either....i was the only one who seemed to be concerned about it and emptied that big pig of a compressor like a dozen time's over the week.

I use the OFNA truggy boxes. 2 of them. One for each. But I will soon get the Losi box.

I was the 5th race. I still haven't touched the truggy other then tapping it a bunch of time after the mud dried. A lot came off actually. Next week I will start to work on it.

I have no problem with my Losi box v1, it was a bit anemic before I hardwired everything.

I was race #4 right after they opened the track back up. Mud bog. Fun stuff

as for the starter box the ofna bout truggy box is at the top. The others will fail with time and the ofna truggy keeps on going. I startmy 2 cars and sometimes my buddys cars and sometimes other cars during a typical race day. It just keeps on going. I use a losi 4 cel lipo and it goes all day and then some.

I will vote for the truggy box tho...the dual 775's are nice to have and slap a lipo in there and your laughing.

I'm going to be switching both RTR boxes over to lipo and was curious how you guys are securing the batteries?
