the rb box says c5 circuit racer but, i looked on the rb website and it said it had 3 ports? doesnt make sense. and the cooling head, is much bigger on the rb engine that i brought from ,a fellow racer . its a rb head.



the model number on the rb box says 1005-c

Ok so the 1005-C box is a box for an old C5 on-road engine. The S5 is a pretty good engine, I have never personally ran one in a truggy but I have seen people do it. If you want to find out for sure what it is the serial number on the engine it's self would help. If it is an S5 it's a 5 port engine.

i looked on the side of the engine it says, s5 and he told me he ran it on his hot bodies truggy.

i never had a rb engine, just a novarossi 21bf. does the rb sound diffrent than a nova.


do you know what pipe and, exhaust works good for the s5 ? like a jp2.

Guys what is the factory needle setting for a S7 or WS7? I got mine all out of whack.....

Main needle totaly closed then out 3 1/2 turns
Low needle totaly closed then out 5 turns

What up KAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like Kat said it's 3.5 and 5. Before you turn the LSN all the way in to start backing it out be sure you open the throttle up. If you bottom out the LSN with the throttle closed you could actually damage the needle in there.

I am running a HotBodies D8 and am looking for a new motor. Currently I am using an RTR motor from a losi. I have been looking at the K9. I have just gotten back into Nitro Buggy and want something affordable but powerful. Do you have any suggestions? I do like teh RB name and reputation so I want to stay with these. Any help would be appreciated. Also I am running 30% Byrons nitro.

Whats the word on these new SP 10 motors? they look like the same case and head from the K9. Hopefully all RB's wont end up being made in taiwan.

the 10 series have the same case and stuff as the k9, so probably. as the long as the quality is still there it won't matter where they are made.

The most affordable RB your going to get will either be the K9 or the Hobby9. They will be good for you if you are just getting back into racing buggys. As you get better you are probably going to want an engine with more power tho.

The new SP motors are just replacing the lower end Hobby9 and Junior9 to have entry level racing engines at a very good price. These engines are made in Taiwan so take that for what it's worth. If you are looking for the most power for competition racing you should look more at the WS9, B9, or Shark9. These engines along with the S9 are Novarossi based engines still.

Here is a wierd question for ya. I have a Buggy B9 freshly broken in so its still set fairly rich. I ran a half of a tank the other day and set it on my bench. I did not burn all the fuel in the engine nor did i remove the fuel from the tank. I capped the exhaust and set it on the bench. Today I vent out to empty the tank, burn the fuel in the engine and add after run oil. When I pulled the airfilter of it was soaked with fuel and fuel went everywhere and the carb was full to the top with fuel. I no its probably no big deal just curious what physics caused this, me capping the exhaust nipple? thanks

How did you stop the engine? Flywheel or did you use the pipe... The reason I ask is if you used the pipe to kill the engine you could have flooded it.

First you should never even store the car overnight with fuel still in the tank and the engine. The nitro in fuel can start causing rust on the internals very fast. No idea what would have caused it to fill up like that.. must have something to do with the plug you put on the exhaust. Make sure you clean all that fuel out and get after run oil in there.

Hi Guys,

I have a RB C5 which have been running flawlessly all these while. It has only about 5gallons of run time. I have been preparing the engine for this season race and its been causing me a real headache. I'm using RB std no6 plugs and 25% Byron all these while. The idling seems to creep up showing sings of it getting lean.Even when I reset the needles to its factory settings. I have changed all the o-rings but to no avail. The pinch at TDC is still very good. What could have been the cause?Btw, what is the appropriate length of the exhaust tubing? If I were to use a longer tubing, what would be the changes to the back pressure? Currently my tubing is about 6" long.

Sounds to me like there is an air leak of some sort. Be sure to check the rubber gaskets in your exhaust system. If the one on the engine is torn or even the one between the header and pipe is torn you will have all kinds of tuning issues. Also check the fuel tank it's self and make sure it is sealing real well.
