I'm getting into 1/8 scale oval racing and looking at Novarossi .21 engines and thought I could get some expert advice on here as to the correct engine for what kind of racing I'll be doing...Racing 1/8 scale Losi L8 late model on the oval...110' straights...basically a pretty big oval...Been looking at the Toro Nero .21 but wanted to get some advice before pulling the trigger on the wrong motor for the application.....Been running GRP's in my 1/8 scale buggies the the oval might need something different...Thanks for the advice...

I started racing Dirt latemodel in October but Ive raced before. I want to get another motor my kit motor has a compression leak so it's needs replacement. The kit motor an ofna 28 with a picco carb the car was fast and it's powerband was just right. I have a Jammin 28 I ran last weak and it's powerband with 053 pipe was unraceable I could drive it but I couldn't race it and that motor doesn't like cold temps and it was 50. took a gallon to almost get it broken in and it was hard to tuned it likes to eat fuel too I was getting 7+min from ofna motor and the Jammin motor baerly go 5min. I need a motor that like cool tempsand moist dense air and is quick to break in and easy to tune. The fast guy here runs a Dynamite platnuim 21 for the easy tuning and his car is fast. I talk to him about Picco' Novarossi etc and he was leary of there power and where the power came on. Every one here that has tryed big name big power Novarossi Picco on our track went back to sport or just above sport motors I have go sport motor I order on ebay I don't know when it's going to make it here to the states so I need another motor so I can race the 16th. I was looking at motors in 120-200 range too. Any suggestions short of getting a better driver is wanted and needed.

See of you can borrow an on-road engine for that track. If it works, I'd get a 35Plus21 "Tuned".

How's the Toro on low end torque coming out of tight corners?? Top end is important but low end would equally be important as well..

i get alot of mixed reviews from oval drivers that i know , about 40% swear by the plus2 367 , 20% a huge nova .28 like 528 or 28-7t , the rest are either plus4 or p5 .

they like dynamite 007ht/41020 with plus2 367 or 9853/41020

im not an oval guy but i dont mind making engines for those guys

Houston we have a hard pack oval with sandy marbles no matter how much we sweep or blow after warm up the track is a sandy right off the bottomand it's tricky to use a lot low end torque and I am wanting a motor in $150 range.
The racers here are keeping the motors we use under $200

I'm looking at these motors.

The Novarossi Plus 21-7 FMS is a beast. I have both a Toro Nero and a Plus 21-7 FMS and the FMS is a freakin' Nero on steroids. Probably the strongest mill that I have EVER driven. And they are 10 bucks cheaper than a Nero. Also the 367 plus2 is a beast as well. FMS or 367 are prob your best bet as far as total power and fuel domination. As Mr. Houston said, he has a 367 and I have heard nothing but good things about that guy and the mills that he sells. I can also speak for these engines myself being a Nova USA driver. Just my 99 cents, Tony Keigley.

What does your track all0ow for motor's, is it a up to .26 limit or .21's only, if your looking at novarossi only the FMS is the way to go, I like that motor in latemodel the most of any 21, it has everything you need in the power dept, if your on a small track or big, it has the powerband to suit both just move the gear range around, I would stay away from the onroad motors, they are fast but just dont seem to hang with the offrad motors on the track i have been to, seen alot of onroad motors getting pulled from cars when they are getting ate up by the bigger mill's, then there is the os v spec, another awesome oval motor, here is a vid of our 2009 Fall Brawl, I ran a v spec all weekend, my car is shown on the vid at about 1.45 min into the vid, this is an open class, so guys were running 21's through 28's
