Any pics of yr car would be appreciated.
Envirobs, battery position is a tuning option. Since switching to 1S, I have seemed to prefer the forward position at most tracks for a more balanced feel, but I intend to test more. Just like with the NiMH cells, we use filament strapping tape and simply tape them in for each run. Use the supplied battery braces for the bulk of the support front-to-rear, and on the Reedy batteries, there are also little nubs that align with the slots in the chassis for added support. I have not taken any photos of the LiPo 12R5.1 yet.

Good luck!

The HPI Cyclone 12 shock is nice and pricey. It does work well but you need to trim the shaft to get the right amount of droop.

The AE side shock is just fine the way it is.

Had a ? I see the manual for the 12r5.1 tells you to file the edges of the chassis. Do you only have to file the edges that the batt. will set in? I think I remember hearing abouit sealing the edges of the carbon fiber parts with CA should this be done to all edges or only the outside ones? any help would be appreciated. Thanks new to this.

File the battery slots so the sharp edge don't cut into the battery's shrink wrap shorting it out against the CF chassis.

CA ALL edges and even the countersink holes. That helps to prevent delamination.

If you are using a LiPo file the edges so the pack can rest flat on the chassis with the locator bumps in the slots.

If using a 4 cell pack file the edges so the pack cells rest even with the bottom of the chassis.

I normally file at a 45 degree angle. Don't get carried away......check often. Don't want the cells to drag on the carpet/asphalt if using a 4 cell.

If your lipo has a flat bottom I recommend NOT filing the battery slots. Use lexan pieces keyed to the slots to secure the lipo. The square edge in the CF will prevent the lexan strips on the battery from popping/sliding out.

i know what you're talking about but do you have any pictures so we can see how you've done it. i've seen it done a couple different ways.

Here are some pictures of these plastic strips on a battery. These will ensure that the battery does not move around and always goes in the same spot.
