Hi Guys!!!

I'm newbe on RCTech (its my 1st post here) and recently I've got a GO GX-5R (.21 5 ports). It's pretty amazing engine, and very nice look.

do you have some tips for GX-5R?

You will have one of the first GX series engines sold - nice . This is a brand new model, just released in the last week or so (in most countries).
The GX is an updated version of the Gen 5 and 5.5 motors we all run.

If you read back over the last 100 pages or so, you will pick up pretty much all you need to know about these motors. Seriously, there is lots of good stuff on this thread.

I will PM you some break in and general info. But do scan over at least the last 50 pages when you have the time.

Definately a bump box would be better.

Ok, having some issues with the 5-port. I reset the needle settings back to factory and started re-tuning. For the life of me the low end is boggy. I can either richer or leaner with no change on the bottom end. I'm hearing from other people that it could be a carb issue. Any thoughts?

Make sure the idle gap is set at .7 to 1 mm. Set both needles to flush and start from there. If it's lean bogging it will be that the HSN is too lean, or maybe a blockage in the HSN jet. Remove needle and flush by blowing fuel through the needle housing. Then reinstall needle and set HSN to flush.
If you have the long needle carb, you need the HSN set rich (flush to start with) to make it work properly.
Let us know what happens.

I have been running the go gen 5 5port for the last couple months and loved it. sad to say the the race before I was going to change out my con rod it snapped on me. I didnt think much of it because my new one was in my bag. Anyway to make a long story short it broke my piston. Does anyone know where they have the 5 port piston and sleeves in stock?

I have recently started running a go 7 port and its running strong on a dyn 053.. great motor smooth with long legs and a stout bottom!
I remember a while back reading that people were dropping a head shim after break in at about 1.5 gallons.. I am almost too that point and the motor is starting to come alive. was wondering if any one has any pointers on how much to take out. sorry I dont have more time to re read a couple hundred posts.
I am running 30% on Od 99t or 97t plugs, thanks in advance

Maybe broken spring or something in the clutch? Check head and glow plug to make sure they are tight.

People are talking about taking out the run in shim (which comes with the motor).
If your running 30% you should have at least .5 mm of shims installed. That is the thick alloy shim and two thin copper shims. Run a medium plug at the most, the 97T would be fine.
If your runing less than 30%, you can drop the head clearance for better performance and economy, but with 30% you need all the shims in place.
Refer to this article from the Massive Mods web site on head shimming -

Cheers

The bump start just uses your flywheel but it depends on your car.
