On a different note... more plug talk
Monty can you please recommend an O'Donnel equivalent to the NR/RB plugs that would work well with the Plus4's STANDARD button (which I use)? The O'D website chart compares them to the maccoy plugs, which I'm not familiar with...
thanks!

After a long wait finally ran the plus 4 yesterday, started out kind of sluggish, but as the day wore on and more fuel through it she started to open on up. In the mains got around 9 mins but that's with the 8 restrictor, so definately could be better. The only issue that I have is it seems to be a bog at low speeds. Can this be corrected by changing clutch spring from 1.0 to 1.1? Thanks for all your help Monty! Give it a few days and this engine will be a beast!

Well i got myself a Plus4 and 9901 pipe and through it in the truggy for the 1st time on Sunday, it was seriously good!
plenty of excelleration and smooooth right through the range.
30 minute Final with 2 pit stops on its 1st outing (finished 2nd) so i was very happy with it.

Congrats on the 2nd place.

About the plug question above, why not just buy the Nova plug??? I'm still using the hot plug and the engine still running good.. in fact the max temp it reached was only 105C.

I'm still having problems with flaming when the car is upside down. The motor has more than a gallon through it, Has anyone found a surefire fix for this? The bearings are good, no matter which plugs I use, it does it, and it is tuned right.

hope nobody else has to deal with this company.fusion motorsports has my motor cant find any cause for the piston failure.tells me i have to spend 250 to replace it after two and half weeks still nothing done the employees are to busy playing with thier own stuff to work on mine. meanwhile thier out racing myself at home not racing needing my motor back. i now know not to ever buy another motor from them again.i'll spend it on something more worth while. what a waste of $1000.00 could have baught ten chaep motors and be good for two summers.

I too have had no luck with the 21-4 - not going to say it sucks, but I brought it after looking at Drake at Silver State and was very disappointed. Got to realize that these guys have engines made for them and we get standard.
But about customer service - Every engine company is about the same. OS charged me 200 for replacing my vspec after the rod broke during break in.
RB charged me 300 to replace a 500 engine after the carb cracked.
These guys can only guess what happend and listen to what you say happened. They can only go by your word. They dont know you and assume you caused the error in which resulted in the engine failure. I know your pain all to well. But to be honest in 20 years of doing this, I would say 1 in every 500 engines failures are "USER" errors. Not sayin its your fault, just want I have learned over the years.

Another thing that can happen is that if you rev the engine too much when the car's upside down (or you're getting the 'slow marshaling' and it's on the lid too long) then you get a big air bubble in the fuel line because the pickup's uncovered (unless you have a Losi or HB truggy or buggy with a clunk tank). About the time that your car gets marshaled and you hit the gas, that air bubble hits the carb and you flame out...

What can help both situations is to do moderate 'blips' of the throttle while the car's on the lid. Don't rev the pee outa it, but don't let it just sit and idle. Moderate blips help keep enough pressure in the pressure line to slow the fuel flow into it without blasting lotsa air into the feed line. A clunk tank helps with the upside-down air bubble issue, but does nothing for the flooded pressure line issue. Refraining from mashing the trigger imediately after the car's marshaled helps let the fuel clear out of the pressure line. Roll the throttle on instead...
