Boy, is this bad boy really starting to come to life now. Wow......Lack of bottom end, they say?? No way. Not in a buggy. Straightaway?? Will it
ever stop pulling?? My GAWD!! Temps in the 180's and smoking good.
Still a bit fat on the bottom so I haven't cracked the 10 min. a tank mark
and that was driving like grandma yesterday but it'll get there. Actually, I
ran a 10 minute C main yesterday and ran out 3' from the loop on the last
lap. Bud of mine was marshalling right there so he gave 'er the boot to get
'er across.
All and all, really happy with my tuned .21 so far. Just bought
another for back up too.

I'll get to run mine again this coming weekend at a big race. I'm so excited. Had to put a new piston and sleeve in cause of a broken piston skirt. It's all ready to go and making power and running more consistently after replacing the P/S. Weird but it's good for now.

did we have a brain fart when pulling the back plate my Air8

LOL. No not yet. We could see the broken skirt through the exhaust port, before pulling the back plate. But that's exactly what it looked like. Looked like someone had pulled the backplate without putting the piston up top. This engine never really felt right from day one, but there's no way it was broke from day one. The two little pieces of the piston were in the bottom of the case but never got thrown around.
I think it broke at the last race I used it. I was heading through a high speed chicane when a car from the next lane went off of a long double sideways and we hit head on. My car stopped dead, I wasn't even looking for it and I was full wood through there. The impact cut my front left a-arm part way and mashed the threads on the shock body, which unscrewed the shock body part way too. I just assumed the crank got shoved backwards a little and the piston contacted the backplate. There is one little nick in the backplate in a downward fashion. IDK.
It's all good now.

hey guys, if any of you have a GRP that may be needing a pinch/bearings let me know. Check out the Speed Shop thread on here. I am doing a little special on sleeve pinches for $12.50(If you just send the P/S). We can also install bearings and freshen the motor up for you.
The sleeve tool we have is a very nice piece from BMR racing products. It's one of the best ones out and I first seen it while racing with the drake. After talking to him about it I purchased one. Although not cheap, it is machined to make sure you put a proper squeeze on the sleeve and is a perfect circle once done.
I love my grp's I have enough to get me through a couple more months. If I can help any of you stay going let me know

Hey guys don't hesitate to deal with aburton, he has been running grp's for almost 2 years now and knows them inside outside and backwards. They are probably the most popular engine here in alabama and alan has been really helpful in keeping a lot of them running. I personall had a grp sleeve pinched by him-motor was bought used of a member here said it had 9 gallons-burton pinched it and so far I have run it for about a gallon with zero probs. The pincher is really nice-no clamp type (no egg shaped sleeve). He also offers a lot of other services rc related so check him out on "THE SPEED SHOPL thread here on rctech
Hey burton I got the engine heater yesterday-looks like it will be the bomb on the break-in stand. If you didn't live so far away I would run by so you could see it
