If it's jumping around w/o any logic check your needle O-rings and if OK check the lower o-ring in the carb neck. Also I'd suggest to move to colder plug and learn how to tune the low end with that. Hotter plug helps idle and that might cause too rich LSN -> too lean HSN and screwed up idle gap hot engine doing all sorts of weird things.

Hehe..nice one grizz1..couldn't agree more..
I wish the weather would clear up here..I replaced the rod and pin(ti-ni coated
) in my mm5 3 port on monday and fitted the GO 2072 pipe to my mm5 7 port same day and it's rained ever since :

So it's your fault Gizz !! I am in a similar boat (that should read ARK). Two weeks of soild rain, hail, thunder here. It is the begining of our winter, but it has been very wet for this time of year. Racing cancelled last week and this week now
I just finished giving both my motors a 3 gallon TLC service. New bearings, rod and a crank polish for the Stage 5 5 Port. New bearings, rod and Gen 5.5 crank for the Stage 3 7 Port (which was a Gen 4). Since I finished them it hasn't stopped raining.
Maybe next week
Sounds like the 2072 pipe is the goods. Might have to save some pennies I think.

I share your pain! I got a brand new XT8 almost 4 weeks ago, and due to work and other things requiring attention, I have still not even run it once.
Hope the weather clears up soon for you guys. Over here it sounds like the roof is going to be blown off tonight.

Having trouble with tuning my 7-Port. I have about 3 qts through it idles pretty good but when I accelrate it flames out. I guess I am running pretty rich but I can not chance it out of the current tune.
I tried adjusting the needles a little at a time but nothing. I ran the buggy for about a tank with good results prior with temps never getting aboe 235-245.
I know the motor has not been fully broken in yet.
The long needle is the HSN correct.
I want to start off with the factory settings and is that flush on both needles. Sorry about the tupid questions but I dont want to ruin the motor.
Thanks to all in advance who has the time to help out.

set needles, lsn 11/2 in hsn 1/2 turn in. it should run fine at those settings. if not you may have an air leak. mine did it at the bottom of the carb. there is an o ring there that seems to be problematic. Just check it if the above setting do not work. also make sure glow plug is good. But it sounds like you are running lsn to rich.

.BTY, would you PM me your break in method, and any hints you have to keep these beasts good and happy for the long run, I went ahead and bought Mark's MM Miracle run in formula for the break in process. And what do you guys think of GMK's Afterlife afterrun oil? Good stuff or no?
Thanks!

OK I confess! All rain, general bad weather and unfinished building work is my fault..Don't ask how I do it cause it's top secret! I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you! While I'm at it I'll take the blame for all this weeks DNF's at tracks that I failed to ruin with my weather control..

Whatever you problem just blame me and I'll pretend to care
