I just got my Havoc 8.5T and it did cut out a few times but this seems to be an intermittent problem as sometimes I can run a full batt through it and it doesn't happen. How has the warranty repair worked for you guys? Do they upgrade the ESC to the 3S or is it still the 2S?

With mine they just updated the programing. Had same intermitant shut down. I have only run it 1 race weekend since returned and it did not cut out but with the nature of the problem I will ned to have another race weekend on it before I am sure it is fixed. I would send it back as they know the problem is there and will fix it.

At first i was having the intermittent shut down problem. i went through the set up programming again and it stopped. the only problem now is that it doesn't like to go in reverse. through a lot of messing around trying to get it to work, the only way i gould get it to go in reverse was to tap the forward throttle just a hair then it would go in reverse. has anyone else had this problem?

I emailed Novak about the reverse problem and this is what i got so far:
Dear Sir,
After you preformed the one touch setup on the ESC, did you alter any of your radio settings such as your throttle trim?
The ESC will not go into reverse until it has come to a complete stop and the trigger is returned to neutral position.
What type of radio system are you using? Sometimes people report problems when using inexpensive OEM/RTR radio systems because the throttle potentiometers generally tend to not return to the same neutral point time after time.
Thank you for your email, if I have missed any of your questions please feel free to let me know.

Hi guys,
I'm sorry to see the problems you guys are having, but we are always working here to try to sort these types of problems out and we will stand by our product and try to do whatever we can do to make things right.
Slyfinger: If you call up today and ask for me I would be more than happy to talk with you about what happened and try to get you back up and running as soon as possible.
njmose1: The not being able to engage reverse is a fairly common problem that is *most often* associated with changes being made to transmitter settings after the one touch procedure has taken place or with inexpensive budget transmitters that tend to be very inconsistent in the signals they send out with regard to trigger position.
If you are confident in your transmitter's condition and that you have not made any changes, and you have tried re-preforming the one touch setup and the system still doesn't want to go into reverse, at that point I would recommend sending the system in to us for evaluation because I personally have not seen this issue before.
Please be sure to fill out a warranty service form along with a detailed account of the problem and send it to my attention referencing our correspondence via forum and email
To anyone:
If you are having problems with your Havoc or other ESC, it is much faster to email us at [email protected] or [email protected] to get the problem sorted out.
The forums are definitely useful tools, but it would be impossible to monitor all forums and all threads all the time to provide quick support.
Hope this helps and I want to reiterate again that we are committed to trying to solve these problems for everyone!

Im looking to buy a 13.5 system but fear i will have to send it back.
Are new ones that are being produced now still having the problem? IE: tower hobbies is currently out of stock so if i buy one when they get them will they be an updated version.
i assume if i use ebay they may be an other one or any other hobby shop thats had them in for a while.

Let me see if I can jinx myself.
I have a Havoc 21.5 system in my VTA and have run it a couple of weekends with no problems to speak of. I haven't changed any of the factory settings yet. I just performed the one-touch set up and away we went.
I just picked up an 8.5 motor and was going to start running it in a truck. Judging from the posts, the shut down problem is not with one type of motor. Is this accurate? If I have no problems with the 21.5, would switching to an 8.5 cause any problems?
And if the problem is resolved with a firmware upgrade, can I send a perfectly good unit back to get the upgrade under warranty?
