You may want to wait to buy the Havok. You will be able to get it with 10.5 SS or 13.5 SS and I think they have other options to. Just in case you didnt want a 8.5

Ya i race carpet truck so the 8.5 is great for that.

I bought the havoc \8.5 combo. It is not a bad sport system. The major downside to it for me is drag brake, it just does not have enough of it. My havoc esc was sent back to Novak as it was just shutting down and glitching for no reason. I initially put the drag brake issue down to it being a faulty esc. However it is not, there is a definite lack of drag brake. If you do not use much drag brake then this is not an issue and it is a good set up.

Nce71,

If you would like your brakes (and drag brakes) to be stronger/more aggressive, try turning your brake frequency down. The default setting is 4... so settings 1, 2, or 3 will be more aggressive than the default setting.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Steve,

It is being sent back by my lhs as it would randomly shut down. Once I get it back I will check the brake frequency and try some changes.

Hmmm it's nice, and yet not so nice, to see that i am not the only one having issues with the havoc esc shutting down. Guess i will give Novak a call on one of my next days off and get it checked out. I was fairly confused when my buggy would stop running for a couple seconds in the middle of a race last night, and then it would work until i made it to the next jump then stop.

So did you hear back from Novak yet?

Towerhobbies/Great Plaines has now moved the Delivery date of Havok systems to "early Feb". I hate when they do that. I'm ready to buy something else instead just because they keep teasing their customers.

It sounds like your Lipo low voltage cut off is set on the Havoc. One of our racers had the same issue and I found his was set with the LV cut off to on when he installed the Havoc. As soon as we turned it off, he no longer had the throttle blip issue. He was running a four cell NIMH and the cut off didn't like the voltage.

That is not a problem, it is the way the ESC is built.

Problem is not the lv cutoff. Tried it with it on and off, same thing happened. tried all three of my lipo packs fully charged. still happened. tried it with a different receiver, still happened. tried it with a different radio and receiver, still happened. Problem is with the esc.

Hey Guys,

Just want to try to get some information from those of you who are having trouble with your Havoc's...

When the ESC is "shutting down" on you do any of the LEDs flash or give you any sort of error codes?

Also, what types of LiPo packs are you running? Brand/C rating?
