Just got back from the first round of the BRCA Truggy Nats here in the UK. What a hectic two days.
During qualifying yesterday I had a heck of a time with the car and the way it drives. Thought I had made the wrong choice. I couldn't keep it pointed in the right direction and must have scored 80 000 on Tokyo drift king, hehe.
My driving style did not work with the truck at all. Started getting better after 4 rounds of qualifying, but nowhere near good enough. Seemed to come together this morning though and I bumped up 3 times to get to the 1/8th B Final (Christmas tree finals) Considering there were 120 people there. The finals were all 30 minutes and by the 4th one I was so tired and drained and made way too many mistakes finishing 10th, having started 15th.. I had to change the rear bearings as they had broken apart so badly with one of the rings actually cracked before that final. I think I did get the fastest laps in 3 of the finals though, from what my mate told me.
Track was really hard to learn too and with a new car not ideal.
I think more track time will be a good thing to fine tune the car and learn how to drive it properly. It's totally different to driving the XT8, a lot more responsive and a real point and squirt kind of car.
All I can say after 2 hours of finals and 20 minutes of qualifying yesterday is that this car is amazing and I can't wait to actually get to grips with it and learn how to set it up and drive it properly.
PS: I am going to have to get another new one as this one is totally trashed from the big stones we have sticking out of our tracks here.
