Thanks for your help mate. Guess what it was a Duratrax temp gauge. Well won't be using a temp gun again. Back to the tried and trusted method, Smoke trail, Spit and sizzle, glow plug check, ect ect.

You can use a temp guage it wont hurt, but its good to have soemone elses to compare it to. The odonnell temp guage is one of the better ones on the market.

for those running the 7 port in a buggy, what clutches are you using, i was thinking of the werks clutch and trying a different combination of shoes but still not entirely sure what to run.

Sounds like the LSN might be too rich and the HSN too lean. The 5 ports like a fairly lean bottom and slightly rich top - not sure if the same applies to the 3P R. LSN being rich will keep the temps down when your running in, as you never really get on the HSN under half throttle. Then you lean out the HSN to get the temps up, but it is already correct or slightly lean, so you end up lean bogging and starving at higher revs. Try leaning the LSN some and check idle gap is .7 - 1mm only, no more. Hope this helps

I have the Go 7 port and I am using Mugen aluminum shoes with 1.1 springs. This helps to increase the bottom a little bit more.

Default Turba Head tuning issues

Hi guys,

I am a newbie to nitro & I have been running a GO 5 port for the last couple of months. Recently, I installed a turbo head button & was pretty happy with the increased power. However, I have run into a little tuning problem. After running for a while, the engine sputters & there's even a loud 'pop' from the exhaust. What could be the cause of this? I measured the head temperature & it was less than 100 deg C. On top of that, I am getting 'sticky throttle' in that the engine is slow to rev down. I know that without further details, it's not easy to figure out what is (are) the problem(s) based on this simple description. Some educated guess would be appreciated. I have just changed a new fuel tank & new tubing because I was getting the 'sticky throttle' earlier so I hope that potential area of concern is eliminated.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Can't comment on the "pop" but regarding temps you are rich with it. For the slowly decreasing idle you should check your idle gap. If it's been rich on LSN and you've compensated it with increasing the idle you might end up in situation like that. Ifä you'r lost on settings a good way is to set the idlegap and then needles to the default position and start going from there. Might be annoying but in many cases provides a faster way to the proper results.

sounds to me like your rich down low and your idle is to high to compansate try setting the idle gap back to about .7mm to 1mm then retune the LSN hope this helps
