But yes, I was referring to the flat spot, for some people it is handy it is there, so they can not damage the piston...

You know, I was also hoping for the Ninja to become a reasonably priced competitor to the NR engines, but it seems that Mario, although he took a lot of knowledge with him, missed out on a few important things, mainly metallurgy.

The piston material makes or breaks an engine power wise and the correct steel will make a crankshaft last, not snap.

It is correct, that they had a few very good results, mainly in 1:10th, but overall they never got it right.

After seeing all the team drivers switch to other brands and GRP releasing their own label, I would expect to get the divorce of Mugen and Ninja confirmed at the Nuremberg show in February.

Do you think the GRP engine will be technically very different from the Ninja?
I don't think so, it will be an evolution, but under the GRP brand name.

It could well be, that the Ninja was a "project", to start up something, and if it went wrong, it didn't hurt the GRP brand name....

Indeed are the right materials very important and I do believe the engine is good prooved by the modified versions. It is a shame the box-stock version is not competive.

I know the Falcon engines have a different timing, I did run one a hile ago and I must say foor 300 euro somewhere from Germany it is a good engine.

Marketing can have a very strainge logica...
It is no secret the Ninja is a GRP engine and has many people loving it but if they are following the teamdrivers it can hurt the GRP engine market.

I think you are right, they will keep developing the GRP line based on what they have now.

Ninja probably didn't hurt GRP, but it certainly hurt Mugen's reputation, they basically lost the entire 2007 season......

I haven't seen any Mugen's blowing by at the Nats in the last few years..... actually Kyosho has dominated the Worlds and Nat's since 2006.

2007 Kyosho takes Worlds and Nats w/ Joel Johnson and Collarri
2006 Kyosho takes Nats w/ Burch (Max Power)
2005 was the last Mugen Nats win w/ Mike DOMINATING with a JP while Kyosho took the Worlds I believe (not 100% sure??)

I don't believe the Ninja took any majors in 1/8th since it hit the market. '06 at Ft. Myer's maybe??

I beleive that cdelong was reffering to 1/8th scale, not 1/10th scale. Those races he mentioned are all 1/8th scale results.

2005 1/8th scale worlds ( Messina Italy ): Collari with his kyosho powered sirio powered motor took the win.

I still have a .12 ninja and happy with it. I placed it in 2nd place at our
T4T race at crystal park race way after a 6 month break from racing.....
I personally will just keep running this motor till all compression is gone.....
Since Mugen USA is moving on i'll probably be looking for another motor next season but I really can't b!tch about a motor that has performed well for me...

Cdlong, I know mikey came in 2nd behind Burch on that nationals you mentioned so it's not like Mugen had a bad year either especially when you count all the other races won last season outside the nats.....
