Hey, is it safe to assume that the Revo is far faster out of the box than the MGT? The AE Pro 4.6 obviously has more displacement than the Revo's 3.3, but the Revo actually weighs about 3 pounds less.

Couldn't find weight specs on the Savage.

Thanks,
The Revo is the fastest of the MT's. and it has the least displacement. but through different gearing and the weight of the truck you wont notice the lesser torque on the track.

The Savage weighs 11 pounds.

There is plenty of camber in the stock ones and I have never seen one broken yet.
camber has nothing to do with the strength of the a-arms. thats just the angle of the tire on the y-axis (vertical).

Agreed, however stock arms have enough camber and very, very durable.

like I said, I have never seen one break yet.

I know nothing about Racing MTs, but I like the Revo for its unique suspension.. I raced a TRX 1 buggy by traxxas when I was young, so I know they make good trucks. I was debating the TMaxx or this one. I went w/ the REVO!!!

the Edsel was unique too but that didnt lend itself to the market...

11 pounds sounds light for a Savage

the question about "fastest" out of the box really isnt a fair one because when manufactureres do advertise top speed they generally arent accurate and are under certain conditions using different gearing. Agility and stability and durability will be more important in racing. the day I got my LST2, I took the 427 out and put a Sportwerks .26 in it and raced it that next weekend and won by 4 laps over the field. At one point, me and 2nd place (Revo 3.3) had an awesome drag race down the straight side by side with neither pulling away and I got out of it early to prevent wrecking and was also able to cut the corner inside him at the end of the straight and get away from him.

Note: I beat the same guys with my MGT also...

In my racing experience I have very rarely seen a LST finish a long race. I love the REVO and will attest to its durability, but even mine hasn't finished all of them. LOL However any and every rig you will get can break or malfunction at some point so go with the Truck that your local TRACK or hobby shop supprots and carries parts for. I have found the Revo 3.3 to be the easiest to find parts for and the easiest to make fast.

It's been my experience that it's the other way around the revo's rarely finish even short races of only 15 mins. I only DNFed one 30min main all last yr. with my LST, that was a servo on the T/B dieing.

You better start posting the video's 2D

Any one can finish a 20 - 30 - 45 minute main (excluding breakage). It just takes alot of preperation and alot of people over look that part.

That is very true, I get out driven all the time but I will be damned if I'm out wrenched.... IE I've never lost a wheel nut in a race... I see that at least once a weekend..

My LST wins this 20 minute race. It's worth noting that most of the Revo's drop out and it's my LST and a highly modified Savage (not much Savage left it has no tranny and a center diff) battling at the end.

Warning: 90meg 20 minute race video...

The truck you buy can help a bit, drivers and maintainence are the key factors to being successful in this hobby, racer or basher! Choose the truck that has good 'after-sale' service.

Any truck metioned in this thread will be good for you!!! Just choose the one YOU like best...

Good luck.......

drivers win/finish races. guys that are hacks are going to break no matter what. the local track where I generally race is 90% revos. half the field is broke and doesnt finish the main. Generally there is one savage, 1-2 LST's at most and maybe one MGT if I decide to take mine. At that specific track, the mains are generally only 15mins long and Ive finished every one in MT and never finished below 3rd in the 2 summers Ive raced there. The time I finished 3rd was in the MGT and I broke a front center CVD on the first jump of the first lap and had to drive rear wheel drive the rest of the time, finished 1 lap off the pace.

Now, I dont consider myself a great driver by ANY means. Just most of the guys there don't drive with their heads and are too wrapped up in the "speed" issue of racing.

the only RC vehicle I ever had for offroad that was prone to breaking alot was a Matt Francis XXXT. those A-arms snapped like crazy on that thing. I put plastic arms on it and it was good to go.
