Thanks, that's great friggin' information!
I haven't heard much information on the MGT?
And which one is the largest truck, the Savage?
Where I'm at, the local walk-in shop is the Hobby People, which mostly consists of Associated, HPI and Traxxas. Absolutely no Losi.

based on my experience from owning all 4 of these:
Savage - Indestructible, not the most nimble but a skilled driver can get it around the track. If I was to get another one, without a doubt it would be the X ss kit or no others.
MGT - slightly less indestructable but waay easier to work on and handles unbelievable for a big truck. I still have my MGT racer. It was my all time favorite RC vehicle, just got carried away with my LST2.
LST2 - accelerates and turns like an 8th scale buggy. some things are goofy to work on - like changing steering servos (thanks Losi).
Revo - I had a complete Race revo with all the high dollar goodies and hated every bit of it. Hated how it handled, hated to work on it...we had to part ways.
Here was my Savage with Twisted Toys LCG plates:

My MGT, I parted most of it out but am currently rebuilding it:

My current LST2 Racer:

notice no pics of the revo...did i mention i hated it? lol...not that I am bitter or anything

whatever truck you decide to get, make sure parts are readily available from your local hobby shops.
i love my TNX 5.2R but parts arent very easy to get in Australia as yet.some parts are starting to show up at the local shops.
my local hobby shop stocks anything for the LST2 and the Savages and the MGT.

I would have to 2nd that! Whatever you decide support is the most important! Knowing how to repair/race prep your truck is also important. whatever you decide, have fun! That's what the MT class is about.

Hey, thanks for those great pictures, Mach!
Nope, definitely ruled out the Warhead, Chris. I've seen quite a few threads on miscellaneous forums about problematic issues. Besides that, anytime I needed something, I'd have to order parts as opposed to just walking in the LHS.
Dallas and Red, if parts support is important, and I know it is, my choices are narrowed down to the MGT, Savage and Revo. The Revo is about $100 more than I'd like to spend though, but I haven't ruled it out.

I was kiding about the Warhead thing I would never recommend that junk pile to anyone. As far as the MGT it really is a good truck it holds the track record on my local track for the MT class, and thats against Revos, Savages and LST's but we dont have the best pilots for regulars. Its really your choice what you get. I decided to get the Savage X SS because everyone says they cant be as good of racers as the others but thats why I bought it to prove them wrong.

Yeah, I figured you were pullin' my chain with the Warhead.
Hey, is it safe to assume that the Revo is far faster out of the box than the MGT? The AE Pro 4.6 obviously has more displacement than the Revo's 3.3, but the Revo actually weighs about 3 pounds less.
Couldn't find weight specs on the Savage.
Thanks,

Check out my video, all of the trucks you mentioned are in this race.
Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wpDrB4O_jQ
First place: Revo 3.3 (box stock, except for tires)
Second : LST2
Third : Savage or Tmaxx (I'm not sure)
IMO, the MGT is underpowered, but with more power it would be a contender.
I have the revo 3.3, and I've never looked back.
Here is a pic of my Revo 2.5. My Revo 3.3, is in the video, I'm the guy taking out the corner marshall!
IMO, get whatever truck your LHS stocks the most parts for, and get it to the track.

savage: is a great truck from what i've seen though i agree it takes some work to get it race ready..but you said you like to tinker!
revo's handle very well out of box( don't know much more i don't personally own one..( i had an electric one for a while but sold it)
mgt's (never seen one run ever)
lst's are awesome trucks i've seen them run and boy they do it well
warheads(you didn't even consider so oh well)
t-maxx old school but fairs well with great piloting skills
tnx- good truck originally now comes with stuff that made the first better and it has .32 sized engine
honestly for me my next mt is either revo or lst2...most likely revo cause i arleady have diffs and am planning to build a racer outta it

I'm fairly new to Nitro, but I've owned a few electrics.
Have only done bashing with the Revo, but decided last month to Race and convert it to a 3.3. I don't really have a comparison to any other trucks, but I would say wrenching on it is fairly easy once you've torn it apart. I had to strip the old chassis and once I did that, I was able to figure out easier ways to get at some of the harder to reach areas. Plus I generally can find advice on whatever I need through websites and stuff...
I think in general we all enjoy wrenching on our trucks and once you get used to how one is put together, it becomes a lot easier to tackle broken components/upgrades/ and setups. So yeah, ease of wrenching should be a factor in a decision, but priority of it depends more on your willingness to wrench than anything else I would think... Of course if a truck is known to break a part that is difficult to replace/repair then you may not want it if you don't want to wrench to much..

lst2 does not require rpm arms. There is plenty of camber in the stock ones and I have never seen one broken yet.
rpm arms are useless without lunsford ti turnbuckles.
lst2 is pretty much bullet proof. Very few hop ups needed to make it a top racer. (sway bars/tires/engine brace/foward only conversion), great radio gear out of the box. Best stock big block engine in MT's.
Only fully enclosed drivetrain/spurs/clutchbell
Well worth the price.
Alot of good deals on lst2 racers on ebay and lstforums
