You are over complicating things too much. For the head clearance if I did it your way I would come to a figure that is totally different again as i shave anything up to 4mm off the bottom of the sleeve itself. Simply remove the plug from the engine and put a piece of solder in so that when the piston comes up it nips it. Measure the nipped piece and then shim accordingly to get 0.6mm. (eg - if the piece of nipped solder is 0.5mm then add 1 0.1mm shim).

he ed,
i have not read that you mean duration time, i have read that you mean closing time from cranckshaft, an this is 180° + 62° after tdc = 242°, right??

Hallo Dieter,

Z.Bsp: 35 nach UT, in Englisch 35° ABDC (after bottom dead center).

For all non German speakers (what's wrong with you people), I just explained some basics that were lost in translation...

Yeah, what he said

I saw 0,3mm in there which sounds about right to me for a baseline head shims with 16% fuel.

Yeah. I picked up from the aweful Babelfish that that 0.3mm is the stock shim that comes on Nova engines.

Stock Novas usually come with a alu shim (0,3mm) and a copper shim (0,1mm) which is about right for 30%.

0,3mm works for me for 16%.

Not in the UK. Only silver shim. But we are always getting shafted in the UK.

hi stefan,
mach dir mal keine gedanken, ich weiß schon was in unseren motoren passiert,

sorry, but my english is not good enough for translation my post

Im still using the RS12 case (as I find it works better for me) and the standard head clearance without the shims was only 0.2mm on my engine. I know its not overshimmed and the head isnt too high. I'll post a picture of an old button head I have that I ran with just the silver shim.

Its possible that the newer Nova engines have a 0.3mm clearance without shims in which case the silver shim on its own will be fine.

I never overshim an engine. I tend to go the other way. I'll destroy whatever is necessary to find the lowest possible head clearance I can get away with. I always push my engines to the edge regardless of the cost so I know what the limits are.

the rex engines I got have no clearance without shims......so with 0.3 shim the total head clearance is exactly the thickness of the shim.....

and i keep this setting up to 20% nitro.........

Thumbs up Todd Bath did it again

Congratulation to AXIAL Racing sponsored driver Todd Bath with his TQ and 2nd place in A-main on first round of Central division RC Pro Series race in Huston TX.
His RRR was powered by Palmaris PROFI PR12 and Rocket Scince fuel.
Todd-you did it again!!!!! Really good work!!
Big thanks to Tommy Parfirio for his Rocket Science fuel. Seems like since Todd start using Rocket Scince fuel-his results went up.
Edward
