This is a real downer. I never had chance to run at Windsor, but heard nothing but great things about the whole facility and the team behind it. I wish all those responsible all the best for the future and hope that no-one got stung (too much!) financially.
With regards to it being 'in the sticks'... please cast you're minds back to the Hurstville days. That went the same way too remember and I would not call that 'the sticks'.

Guys we can dance around and around to try and discover the reason behind this venue being successful, location, layout, surface, racing calendar are all major factors IMO, most of what could be fixed has been fixed but possibly not when it was required. What we need to do is celebrate what we have/had, and make sure we give the Auswide boys a good send off. With no EC racing this weekend, i hope all will make the effort and get out there at some point this wekend, if not to attend the racing on Friday night.
ScottyP was right, Hurstville had similar distance issues for those of us not living in the South, if i had not been working in Parra (with a car space) there would have been no chance i could have ever gotten over there during the week.

I haven't been in the sport for to long, and shift work doesn't help but the time i have raced i have raced at Windsor. It's a great venue and the guys from Auswide always try and do the best they can for the racer, so that's why they will still have my support when i need to buy parts or another car, truck, buggy or what ever. C u there Friday night.

Its so sad to hear the 3rd indoor venue in the Sydney metro area is going to close its doors. It would seem that the number of racers required can not support such a venue to keep its doors open.
Just like a lot of other things you people talk about, just ends up talk and no action.

The shop is still doing OK it will do much better as just a shop without the added expense!
The numbers above are my estimates but I think they would be close to the mark and really the difference would be $1000 per week so you need 100 racers per week just to break even.
The Auswide guys are keen racers and wanted a venue for the racers I guess when it started costing them the passion would have dried up quickly!

Why isn't the track exclusive to shop customers only?
In other words, you have to be a regular customer of the shop (buy either tires, kits, chargers, batteries or whatever else) to be allowed to use the track, or pay a higher race entry fee.
Being the owner of a large business, I can tell you now, you need to be able to find ways to stay ahead, and its very tough in todays market.
Having said that, I can probably see Woolworths or Bunnings buying the place for peanuts to build yet another shop
