Unhappy WINDSOR WILL CLOSE IN 8 WEEKS

Well guys we found out today the rumours were true, Windsor indoor race track has chosen not to extend there lease beyond the remaining 8 weeks left

we were advised by management tonight, that Auswide had advised the estate agent they will not renew there lease agreement.

management did leave the door open for a possible renewal, there were suggestions mentioned tonight, but the best way to show support is to turn up.

I personally do not go back to racing being called off due to rain, or not being able to practice & try different setups with out pressure of race day..

I think this is a great facility to go racing & try different setup changes weekends & weekdays, sorry do not mean to rave but I think this is a great venue.

well guys I personally think this is the best venue to race RC, & I will support them by attending Monday, Friday nights & some practice days.

any racers that would like to support please do so...

my thoughts.

Christian

Hey Christian,

i never heard about windsor closing since you mentioned it.

I also INO think that the venue is a great place to race.
Hopefully in the next few weeks more racers will come down and support windsor and we will just have to see if they will change their minds and renew their lease.

it's just too bloody far away!! i had a feeling from day one, but didn't want to put it down for the sake of wishing it all the best

hopefully the shop can find a closer location (with cheap rent) to a population that is receptive to racing.

don't give up with the business, but take this as a lesson, a shop out in the sticks, even if it has a kick arse track, in most cases will not work.

.........

now a shop near penrith district nitro racing club, open on tuesdays, 'till late...that might work

People don't know how good something is until it's gone. It's ashame that it has come to this, but what do you do. People want something and when it's done they don't want to support it. Talk is cheap if you want something and someone does it you support it. Who cares if you have to travel 1 hour to get there. I had a great time friday night racing while it was raining outside, can't do that if you're on a netball court.

Relatively speaking, it IS in the sticks. If it wasnt, it wouldnt be closing.
I'll never understand why the club racing wasnt held on a weekend. It doesnt really matter how far it is to travel on a Saturday.

Paul,

We did try weekends and the turn out was poor! we ran alternate weekends to EC to try and not clash but the numbers where not there!

I would like to thank the regulars and they know how they are for supporting the facility, I am sorry for many of those who are new to racing live locally and have now lost their local venue.

As for the "out in the stick's" comment that is pure horse shit!!!!!!!!! And a cop out, racers travel and follow. Electric racers in particular follow the masses they race where the opinion leaders go.

VWO, Moorebank maybe in your back yard and easy to get to but for me its in the sticks!!! It really is relative to where you live! You see people traveling from all over to race at CH one of the F1 guys comes from the Northern beaches each week and there are many others in the same boat.

I think the reality is that numbers are dropping and all the venues are down on numbers EC, CH etc... Maybe we start a thread to discuss this situation.

Anyway as a last thought, I think Windsor will end up being one of those places we will talk about on these forums in years to come and wonder why we let such a fantastic facility close when we had it. Additionally it will stop others with similar ideas doing anything when they see the way Windsor went. Now for those that want to jump on and say "do it closer and people will come" that is pure BS, Economics say that it is not viable and I guess close to what? It will always be far away for some one! Rents for units the size of Windsor anyhere else are HUGE and cannot be sustained so there that is my 2 cents worth.

I could say much more but I will save that to be done in person to a couple of individuals

Im sure somehow it is George Bush's fault it isnt in VMO's backyard.

Thank you to the lads from Auswide for giving it a go.

The track could have been in Church St Mall Parramatta and still the wowsers of the hobby would find excuses.

Cheers,

Nick,
I raced there as often as I could, & went on weekends too to practice with freinds. I liked the venue very much & am sorry its closing however the reality is that the chosen racing nights werent attracting numbers & that in turn made many of us less inclined to go.

Cheers.

Im Sorry to hear that the windsor track will be closing, while having tried to support it well, lately due to TCS prep and other commitments i am guilty as anyone for not having supported it. We can spend forever arguing the benefits and drawbacks of this venue. But in the end of the day its a great venue, and something that will unlikely be replaced in the near future.

It is sad that the venue only got one large meeting, as it was a great event. I hope everyone can join me in celebrating what we have for the next couple of months , starting by joining me this friday night for some good fun racing.
