Xray T4'17

A year and a half ago I picked up a '16 roller in mint condition with box, stickers manual etc all original extra parts for $175USD.

Sure I understand that you can find deals like you found. I paid $275 for a 16 roller with a few option parts and don't regret it. The person asking the question seems new and getting nearly a running car and a handful of practice tires for $320usd isn't a bad play in my opinion of course.

Currently no 17 or 18 for sale in the UK this 16 was my best option for a practicality rtr car to get me started or I could get a yokomo bd9 roller for £190 or a bd7 2015 complete rtr for £200 but not to familiar with that brand.

Depends what your local track supports. The Yokomo isn't bad car.

Local track support both t4 and yokomo but seems most people are are running mid motor conversion which is another £150 on top of whatever I pay for the bd9 if i get it. Does t4 do a mid motor conversion? Is the mid motor really worth it for a beginner like myself. Sorry if I'm going of course here as I know it's a t4 post.

The Xray is a better car than the Yokomo. The plastics are stronger, and it requires less maintanance. It's also easier to get spare parts. Getting parts for older model Yokomos can be difficult as they usually discontinue them when the new car comes out.
Does the £260 include the pictured electrics? If so then I'd say that's a good deal. Those are good quality electrics, looks like a Hobbywing v3.1 120A, Savox servo, Hobbywing motor. Those will be bullet-proof for a beginner, and fast enough to compete as you get better. And a complete spare car means you'll have a spare of everything should you break it. ('14 and '16 are compatible on all the bits you're likely to break or damage).
Don't worry about mid-motor. If you're just getting into it, rear motor is fine. Mid motor might be worth like a tenth per lap in consistency, but as a beginner you'll have several seconds per lap to come from driving. By the time you're ready to benefit from mid-motor in a couple of years, you'll be ready for a new car anyway.
So I'd say go for it, and enjoy. A used Xray is by far the best option for getting into TC. They're built like tanks, easy to drive, and easy to get parts for.
I run the Bedworth club and we've had lots of rookies join us over the past 6 months. I've directed all of them to Xray, and none of them have regretted it.

Yes it comes with hobbywing v10 13.5 motor and xerun v3.1 esc. To be honest I'm just going to go for it as it's all I need apart from rx/rx and it's local to me and it's saves me spending out for electrics for a roller. Thanks to everyone i appreciate all the help
I look forward to getting on the track and learning the car

I was recently gifted a 2017 by a fellow who races with one of the groups I announce for. Im thinking of setting it up for VTA. Any insight I should know on the car? Spares I should invest in?

they are really solid. I still run my 2017. I’ve run it in 4 different classes indoors and outdoors. What breaks depends on the driver. And how hard the hit things.

Occasionally a rear arm

Good afternoon folks! I just picked up a T4 to mess around with because I don't want to waste a bunch of money to have fun. I'm looking to race it on a smaller track with a 21.5 fix USGT motor. Can anyone recommend a pinion with the stock spur gear?
Thank you in advance!
