And yet also with electrics the higher RPM motors do provide the better performance

That's a bold claim. Pretty much everyone where I race prefers higher torque motors and gear up...

Perhaps in classes where they run fixed timing or fixed gearing. But I prefer higher torque myself too.

I believe this depends on the motor. I have run tests on a track and found the torque would fade out when with the timing down and gearing up, but on a different motor, it worked out to be better. This is the reason that got me into testing motors under a load.

I have found this to be the case with every motor with a rotor in the upper 1785 -1806. Trinity, Exalt, Fantom, Motiv, and the latest Team Powers motor. I also am probably the only racer that pays attention to the data logger on my speedo in the Norcal area. I’m able to see if I need to gear up or down or adjust can timing slightly. Got a new comer to play with this weekend thanks to you……lol. You check out the Orca yet?

Have you tried the Hobbywing? They have strong rotors in that range but they respond well to increasing timing.

I haven’t played with the Hobbywing as of yet. Some locals are pretty darn fast with theirs. Just not sure if they are using tuning rotors or not.

You have a newcomer? What's coming?

My last motor I reviewed was the ORCA. It's a pretty good motor. To be honest, that last 5 or 6 motors, I tested, were all good. It all depends on driving skills, track design, racing class, and traction.

You're out of Sacramento, right? Has the Racers Den gotten busier? The last couple times I went, there were maybe a couple dozen racers. It was not too busy.

Got a Speedzone to play with. I will have to check out your Orca review now. Yes I’m out of Sac. When you say a couple of dozen racers I assume you’re referring to the off road side?? I dont pay attention to off road since I no longer run it sorry :-(

The Speedzone is a good motor. It don't believe it gets the recognition it deserves. Let me know how it works out for you. I'm really curious.

It has been a long while since I was last out at that track. The last time I was there, it was a Friday night and they were only racing offroad.
