I'd love to have the clay tracks from 10 years ago before everyone started turning clay into tire eating concrete with crap like glue.

I could run the same set of tires for weeks at a time because there was no wear on wet indoor clay.

IMO the perfect solution would be running clay slicks on carpet - you get the driving feel of high grip clay, the long tire life of the clay tracks of a decade ago, and the run-to-run consistency you get with a carpet track. Best of everything.

pre tire sauce. pre build in the corners. pre leaf blowing the track after every heat.

That is basically what we have locally, sealed with glue......it is a slick and sauce situation..... it is what it is. At least it is a track that is active and holds a good amount of events and draws a decent number of entires on race days which is really what matters.

I would love some of the wet clay tracks they have down South, but we will take what we can get.

Dirt tracks are meant to have unpredictable traction. That's what makes off road racing so much more challenging.

Or they stay home and complain. There’s probably 2 dozen or more I used to race with that just stopped once the clay track closed.

Surely it can't be beyond the wit of man to invent green, long pile astro with poor/unpredictable grip at an affordable price....

Turf tracks are still few and far between. I do believe that clay/dirt racers would like it over carpet. But still have to get them to try it. I would say that the middle right picture, Toy Box has the lowest grip of these.

I think for a lot of us, from a geography standpoint we don't have the luxury of complaining about what we HAVE currently as IMHO most are just happy to have a location to race at all and as I said whatever surface or classes they run become the dance we dance........

If someone changed the clay to turf......I would just adjust to turf.

What annoys me is the constant fluctuations in classes and class structure. When I invest a good amount of $ into a platform, parts, tires, springs, batteries, gears, etc. I get annoyed when suddenly that has to be moth balled because someone decides to "change direction".......

It all goes back to the rule makers at ROAR and IFMAR. And the racers who want their buggies to grip an corner like touring cars. They should just drive touring cars.
