Several of you have stated that FPV just does not work on RC cars, but this video says otherwise. So, how did Traxxas get stable FPV shots on an Off-Road buggy if FPV is not possible? The FPV footage of it going off a jump and in the air is pretty awesome. Someone finds out how they did this and they can take RC Race Coverage to a new level.

I never said save, I said that the release of the Jato 4x4 could bring new racers to the track, but existing racers only seem to want new racers as long as they conform to what they want, which is one of the reasons why people have no interest in devoting time to racing. They just want it to be fun.

In a same price range you can find (I think) better RTR E-buggy cars from the race brands. Traxxas cars are bought by Traxxas fans and most of them are and stay bashers.

Regarding that movie, it is no FPV, it is the use of an action cam, look on the YT channel of Ryan Lutz who has made plenty onboard movies.

How do you know for a fact that those other e-buggies are better when the Jato VXL has yet to lay down a timed lap? Stop making assumptions based on your feelings. And it's not just Traxxas fanboys buying Traxxas as you say and Traxxas users aren't all bashers. Traxxas is big in the crawler community. Traxxas makes fun vehicles, they also make one of the most scale RC's out there, the UDR.

I'm going to be upfront with my bias here for all the reasons I dislike Traxxas:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...oycott-Traxxas

That said, Traxxas has been known to be able to become competitive, however it takes a small fortune in upgrades and modifications to make Traxxas truly track worthy:

Over the years I have raced alongside many 4WD Slashes against my TEKNO SCT410 and Traxxas cars are rarely able to complete a race day without a single break unless you're a squeaky clean driver like Jonathan Hernandez was in that video above. Generally Traxxas designs are dated which lack key aluminum and carbon updates which make them relatively fragile on a 1/8 track. I am not seeing any evidence to support the Jato will hold up to the rigors of club racing, but I do agree that the Jato may help draw in new blood so there may be a silver lining here

iv had an adult beverage at the track. went to a track with friends during the peak of the short course craze, when there were 60 people at the track on a Wednesday night for test and tune. i didn't have a functional electric RC at the time so i was there to hang out and turn marshal. during a slowdown i walked to a liquor store and bought a 40oz of OE. was walking around on the track buzzed, brown bag in one hand marshaling with the other. nobody said a word. probably because i was the only person marshaling.
i wonder how that would play out today.

Traxxas isn't huge in the crawler world

How do you regulate a class for the Traxxas vehicle?
only allow those with the identical vehicle to race in that class?
Doesn't that exclude others?

Because the buggies from racing brands are developed on tracks by a team of racers, Traxxas just makes cars w/o a whole testing phase done by experienced racers.

Bashing is 99% and racing 1%. Maybe we racers are on the wrong side of the fence

One of our local tracks runs a standard Slash class on most off-road days.......they usually get a few entries, and it is the gateway drug for some. Especially when they get mixed in with the truggies and they see how much better the truggies are and start asking questions.

Not making a case for Traxxas as a race brand, just saying if done correctly some of their vehicles can be gateway drugs to other "racier" platforms

My club always held indoor races in the winter with Tamtech. When that was not that well supported anymore we got a deal from Nikko for about 70 euro an Evolution 1/14 car. This was just a toy car but with a full proportional remote control and even a few options. For 3 winter seasons we had a lot of fun racing until we went to the 1/18 cars.

I'm gonna say not true, I'm gonna say across all classes of RC racing, racers out number bashers.

With all the crazy lawsuits Traxxas has, I hope I never have to buy that brand. I believe Traxxas wants to eliminate as many RC brands as possible.

It been know that less then 10 percent of people that by an RC will participate in organized RC. Each one of the limited edition Snap-on models is around 18,000 vehicles each. LiveRC posts the weekly racing totals. It’s consistently around 11-15,000.

Tracks would be opening up left and right if racing had basher numbers. Those Traxxas display/try me track at NHRA and other events average $20,000 in sales per weekend.
