This field, now grassland, used to be one of the flying fields around me. Only time ever seen a RC jet was here in 1986. They relocated the flyers about a 2 mile from here. And cut the size by at least 80 percent. The flying field around me were established in 70s with forest preserve.

Flying fields have issues too. It's not just RC cars

Maybe.

But real clubs steamroll the grass landing strip. Maintain the paved take off strip, if they have one.

Mow n garden. Yes, some old guy planted decorative shrubs and flowers. There's often a covered pavilion with grills as well. And a storage shed.

Good clubs have more invested than most RC tracks. I'm only using them as an example of the quality that RC clubs need to advance to. If they want to survive.

If I’m seeing the right location on my phone map. It looks like the tracks had become surrounded by residential neighborhoods. I would assume the property just became too valuable

For outdoor tracks. It seems to always be the reason. 20 years I bet that area changed quickly. My grandma lived about 30 miles south, I was there in early 80s. But nothing looks like it did back then.

Thanks to all those people who do not know the rules or just ignore them and caused dangerous or unwanted situations. Why should a drone not be flown at an RC airfield?

That’s I don not know. The other field I posted does allow drones. I knew a group that had an issue with this 5-6 years ago. But I thought it had resolved.
