I like this rule, plus the fast guys can make a killing. If you are one of the fastest in your club, you finish in the top three, then sell your motor for say $80. Then you turn around and buy one of the "slow" motors from the slow guys for $40. Then after doing nothing to the motor you finish in the top three again and sell that motor for $80. Repeat. This could pay for your racing!

I've seen that rule be abused before. Every run there was someone (different each time, but from the same group of pit buddies) who claimed the motor of the same guy. He couldn't run the last couple of finals because he didn't have any motors left.

It is very possible for someone to buy 10+ usgt motors just to build one superfast legal motor that can't be beat, and then sell the other nine duds...Is that cheating??? I guess not...

110% behind you on this! Sealing the cans to make them tamper proof, without it being obvious, might be a solution…how to do that is the challenge.

I also remember a guy selling those $10 silver can motors for $75 bucks or so to guys running TCS people were buying them.

Silver can motors are significantly cheaper than brushless motors. So much so that you could probably buy 10 of them for the price of one brushless motor.

I bought 10 usgt motors. Tested all of them and was able to build 2 near perfect motors. Any advantage in spec racing is just that much bigger. The motors a little faster. Accelerated faster and ran cooler than a motor “just dropped in”. Since then I have learned ways of adjusting the motor that will get me results close to that perfect motor. It still takes 3 motors as there are some things that can not be changed.

I just tuned a couple of motors. I shimmed them, added ceramic bearings, and titanium screws. $60, each, worth of upgrades and they only gained a maximum of 500 RPM's. Not really worth it!

probably gain more just by cleaning up the driving lol anything to be the fastest of the slowest classes, its all about trophy chasing like these pro sponsor guys that race mod ,racing 17.5 and 21.5 classes lol
