The answer to your question is no, RC is not a motorsport. Like I said, go make that video, prove me wrong.

Also, I didn't say anything about "major race series". The discussion was about motorsports and in this regard, I'd say that motorsports did exist before governing bodies.

Alright, alright, alright. I think everyone's said their piece. Let's go back to talking about the results that changing the motor screws has had on the motor.
So far, we've seen a slight increase in RPM output, but what about the torque figures? If anyone has a dyno to test that out, I'd love to see them.
Elon won't pay the bill.

EDIT: I would “almost” guarantee that the error allowed in the timing range of this “spec” motor far outweighs any performance from running non magnetic screws.
Personally I think that the banning of non magnetic screws was a knee jerk reaction to a non issue. But also, I don’t really care, my USGT motor has seen more use as a slave motor than it ever saw on the track.

Our club adopted the spec motor when it was first released and up until recent has been a good move. It seems we had several that were buying multiple motors and mating the best components…and god know what else. It’s frustrating because it’s a spec class running a spec motor…that should have gone in the car without all the tweaking, right out of the box and into the car!
Surprised no one has mentioned the obvious solution here, Your club/organization buys a dozen (or more if needed) spec motors and hands them out at the race. Hand out motors have featured in spec racing for years.

That's a lot of cash outlay for just one class that might not last and/or have rule changes that make those motors obsolete. And someone has to maintain them, handle complaints about underperforming motors etc. It was more tenable in the brushed motor era when the per-unit cost was far cheaper. Bigger events and clubs can probably manage it, but not all of them.
This is a motor that is even more tightly regulated than other "spec" motors. A Roar 21.5 motor is a spec motor.
The idea is to buy it and race it. Not to send it to "Stator Stu" to get it tuned up somehow (???), or to change parts for additional money, or whatever other foolishness.
The idea was to take some of the motor madness out of the class, but it seems like it never stops.

Model cars with a sporting aspect.
Is a motor involved? Check.
Is there some sporting aspect to our toys?

Sport pertains to any form of physical activity or game, often competitive and organized,
that aims to use, maintain, or improve physical ability and skills while providing
enjoyment to participants and, in some cases, entertainment to spectators.

Another name I heard getting used on invisible speed youtube channel "Scale Motorsports"... if the word "sport" is a problem bc of of whats been mentioned already then maybe Scale Motor Racing (broad also covering rc bikes etc ) or Scale Motorcar Racing ( specifically rc cars only).
