USGT
If I were to rewrite the USGT motor rules...
Gravity RC USGT 21.5 Spec Motor Only. Part Number GRC2000.
Any modifications to the motor are prohibited.
All this said and done, other than the bitching on the internet, the class is incredibly successful and I don't know that any changes are needed.
Nobody's going to win or lose because of the screws in their motor alone. It's the combined effort of finding many ways to gain hundredths & thousandths per lap.

Taken from motor rules:
Aluminum or stainless steel main can or end bell screws are prohibited for USGT competition.
this sentence is straightforward and leaves little room for interpretation. If the intent was to not allow the changing of the screws then it should have stated such.

"If it's not in the rules, and does not encompass the spirit of fun,
controlled racing with realistic looking cars, consider it illegal."
If you take out the subjective stuff, it's easier: "If it's not in the rules, consider it illegal."

I like to tinker. “If it’s not in the rules, consider it an opportunity”.

You kill a class by making it not fun.
There's always three types of racers. Those who push the boundaries looking for an edge, those who just want to have fun, and those who want the rules so restrictive that even the type of nut on the wheel is regulated.
The class that thrives seems to be the one that hits the happy medium between flexibility, fun, and regimentation. Our USGT-esque class, Scale Spec, has racers of all stripes and it is going gangbusters. Almost 50 racers, last I checked. Everything from the entry level first-time racer, up to guys going almost as fast as mod cars. Because we hit that happy medium. All chassis are welcome. All 21.5 motors are welcome. All bodies that look like GT cars are welcome. We still have to use the USGT-spec tire, though.
