After putting in the time with the stock car was able to put this run together with only a few tries. The GLR-GT is super easy to drive after a lot of work getting it set up.

Hey Guys, can you give me some suggestions for damping fluid/grease for the PN Dual Disk Damper? It's a basically stock MR-03 with the PN DD, carbon t plate, dual spring damper, and a PN ball diff will be here tomorrow! The only thing I have to try at home is 3K, 5K, and 8K diff fluid. I have 8K on both disks now and it works, but I'm not for sure if it is proper for the job. Thanks,Drew

Hey Drew! I don't use any lubricants on the disks, because they tend to pick up RCP dust which makes the DDS action inconsistent, so I run my DDS dry. You can use a thick tacky grease on the PN dual spring top shock to calm down the rear end if its hopping too much. I use Kyosho gear diff grease, 5k, 10k or 15k. but it can also gum up after a while and cause inconsistent handling, so you'll have to keep an eye on that.

Just joined the thread, never raced (or driven) a Mini-Z, and don't have a track yet. Heck, haven't even run my Mini-Zs. Though, that would be because I just bought them today. Looks like I've got a LOT of reading to do (yeah, I know...don't need to actually 'read' all 104 pages...just 'scan' most of them), and really looking forward to joining in. Picked up two cars - one for myself, and one for my stepdad. But, first, need to learn what 'is' and 'isn't allowed for the "box stock" class, as that's where both of us will begin.

Once we learn how to best handle the cars, any suggestions/recommendations on the most important upgrades, and 'tuning tips', as allowed for "box stock"? I haven't (yet) had time to check...but, is there a Mini-Z "box stock" thread (or threads)? If so, could you provide links to that/those thread(s)? Normally, I'd have no problem searching myself...but, I'm only about halfway done packing for my SF Bay Area to Las Vegas move next week, and need to (mostly) concentrate on getting that done.

Thanks Traveler2! I have been reading and watching youtube on the disk damper and decided to try it dry, as I was getting what i believe was too much dampening with 8K silicone diff oil, purple springs, and #5 carbon t plate. So dried the damper, changed to green springs, and my Kenon order came in so I went to a #3 Carbon t plate. The chattering went away unless I really overpower on corner exit, and the car drives GOOD! In my latest order I also got a silicone replacement steering "tire" for my RTR radio, and it's a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the crappy foam one that comes on it! Because of the nerve damage in my right hand I steer with my thumb and first 2 fingers, as my 3rd and 4th fingers are half asleep all the time, so my fingers would slip after 20 or so laps changing how I drive. With the foam tire replaced with the silicone not only is it smaller around my fingers stay put!
ON a side note I ordered a PN Ball Diff, and the shaft was out-of-round causing the spur to drag on the pinion, and Kenon was GREAT and sent a replacement shaft out ASAP! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The new shaft is straight, but I had to polish the drive pin because it was binding in the slots of the inside D ring, and not allowing any adjustment of the diff. A little emery cloth has it sliding free. Hopefully my back will allow me to get out this afternoon to HobbyTown for some AE Diff Grease since the tube I had was over 20 years old, had split and gotten contaminated with dirt from our Dirt Oval days. Also going to pickup some paint for my Jomurema body. Trying to decide on color, but it will be bright to stand out on RCP!
Anyway I'll post my findings on pre and post changes, and how they effect my times and control of the car. Thanks again Traveler2!!!
Also Panther6834 the first page gives the Box Stock "rules", and the first few pages has good info on what others are having luck with. But the Mini-Z thread has TONS of info on improving the mini-z out of the box. Also youtube will walk you through what most call "must dos" such as the king pin flip, polishing parts, and balancing the car. I have found TINY changes make HUGE differences to the car in this tiny scale! Have fun learning this scale, and Best of Luck to you in your move!!!

Thanks. The kingpin flip & polishing, I'm already aware of...but, the balancing, that's definitely one I'll have to check up on. Already have the 'Rules' post copied & saved. I went through the first 10 pages of this forum last night, while heading to bed. Will find/sub to the Mini-Z thread, but probably won't have time to fully pay attention to it until after the move (4 days, and counting).

Panther,
On balancing, mainly I am talking about the "penny trick". There is A LOT of reading between this and the Mini-Z threads here, and I have read through them both a few times, and there is tons on info. A lot of info on the mini-z thread is from earlier forms of the car and don't apply to the MR-03, but it still helps figuring out the in's and out's of the "Z's"!
Good Luck with the move! Drew

Class- Stock
Date-11/29/22
Location- Central Texas
Race Time- 06:49 / 409.3 seconds
Fastest Lap- 3.96 seconds
Chassis- MR-03
Body- Jomurema
Wheelbase- 98mm
Tires- F- Kyo low height slicks 30* / R- Marka V1R10
Motor- stock
Batteries- Pn 900maAh
Front Springs- green
T-Plate- #3 Carbon
Motor Mount- MM stock
Dampener (If applicable)- PN MR2061 Graphite Disk Damper (both disks, green springs), PN MR2161 Dual Spring center shock (green springs)
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)- None
Gearing-8T Pinion/ PN Ball Diff .5M 43T Spur
Notes: I changed a few things to try to make the car more neutral. Went from #5 to a #3 carbon T plate, dried damper and went to green springs, and got a PN Ball Diff, and Marka rear tires. Doing all this made the car handle very well.
Having A LOT of trouble with Lap Tracker missing laps! So I painted the Jomurema Spaz Stix Tangelo. I painted per instructions with Spaz white primer, Tangelo paint , then Clear. It turned out pretty well, but it ADDED A LOT of WEIGHT! It changed the handling quite a bit! It developed a bit of on power push, and it rolls in the corners. I will do some spring changes to see what helps. An EASYLAP usb lap counter is my next purchase! Even Painting the body Lap Tracker missed 13 laps on this run!
