Billy - One has to use a single car for the mains. The race director/promoter should get involved and try to let people know that there is a guy of two that needs another guy to make a team or have those guys join an existing team. This is the magic of the event as it promotes cameraderie. A different vibe at the race..... a bit more friendly imo....

I could imagine a list of things that would prevent something like this from happening in my area
Florida on road seems to be far better organized then what I’ve experienced. I’ve read of this style being done using basic Tamiya cars. But not with USGT. As much as I don’t like the word, there’s racing it far to “cliquey” here.

Not at all. I’m actually kinda optimistic about on road this summer. We will have 3 groups going. I do have different views on racing after spending nearly every week at tracks over the past 11 months. Even going south of the Chicagoland area. It’s been mostly off road. But I’ve found quite a number that, for a range of reasons, have chosen to stay with off road over on road.
As for one of these team style races. It would be great to see if one of the 3 groups considers it. Or even proposed the idea, just to get local feedback to if they’d be interest

We had an enduro planned at WCRC and had a few teams put together but the track closed. We also were looking at going one at GLRC last winter but for a couple glaringly obvious reasons that did not happen. Enduro races are often done with cheap tamiya kits where you have to build the car on race day, which determines starting order. Bodies are handed out to paint in advance. Each team buys their own kit so entry is usually about $50/each and you grab some old electronics to put in.
