Billy - One has to use a single car for the mains. The race director/promoter should get involved and try to let people know that there is a guy of two that needs another guy to make a team or have those guys join an existing team. This is the magic of the event as it promotes cameraderie. A different vibe at the race..... a bit more friendly imo....

did teams use a single car or use their own car during their drive time?
The same car was run for the entire race. Pit stops were made to change battery and driver. Batteries were tech'd prior to each pit stop. Each team had to have a turn marshal on the track. No driver could complete more than 220 of the 500 laps. I had a great time participating this year.

Florida on road seems to be far better organized then what I’ve experienced. I’ve read of this style being done using basic Tamiya cars. But not with USGT. As much as I don’t like the word, there’s racing it far to “cliquey” here.

I could imagine a list of things that would prevent something like this from happening in my area

Billy, there was just an enduro at Island Speedway in Muscatine, Iowa. 10 teams of at least 3 people per team. A few teams, mine included, were teams made up of people who just met for the first time.

Not at all. I’m actually kinda optimistic about on road this summer. We will have 3 groups going. I do have different views on racing after spending nearly every week at tracks over the past 11 months. Even going south of the Chicagoland area. It’s been mostly off road. But I’ve found quite a number that, for a range of reasons, have chosen to stay with off road over on road.

As for one of these team style races. It would be great to see if one of the 3 groups considers it. Or even proposed the idea, just to get local feedback to if they’d be interest

We had an enduro planned at WCRC and had a few teams put together but the track closed. We also were looking at going one at GLRC last winter but for a couple glaringly obvious reasons that did not happen. Enduro races are often done with cheap tamiya kits where you have to build the car on race day, which determines starting order. Bodies are handed out to paint in advance. Each team buys their own kit so entry is usually about $50/each and you grab some old electronics to put in.
NutDriver and garnt like this.

Think I vaguely remember reading about WC. I mentioned that I’d read of Tamiya being used for these team style races. I was surprised to see it done with a USGT based car.

In 2002 i participated in LRP 24 hours of Eppelheim, a 24 hour race with touring cars, we ran on a carpet track, 10 teams ... 6 drivers and 2 mechanics per team, it was a blast.

I though the minimum weight for USGT is 1380g not 1350?
