Thank you for using our product! In regards to yoru questions about the new HHSN (horizontal high speed needle) carb that we are shipping with our engines it's real benefit as mentioned is that we have found it to provide a more stable idle and also allows more precise fuel metering so adjustments are going to be more noticeable. The previous generation of carbs worked just fine (as based on your comments you have also noticed ;-) it's just that the never version just sees to do things better if that makes sense. It's not going to be night and day different but give it a try on your new engine and let me know what your thoughts are! Also I should add that the intention with it was not to make a so called "max power" or "fuel mileage" carb, it was simply to make a better performing carb.

I'm running a littl ebhind on this but I wanted to take a second to congratulate our Brazilian importer, Thomas Gisler on the results of our engines at the recent Brazilian Nationals!
Truggy Class:
1st place went to driver Marco Amaral running our B7KE engine!
4th place went to driver Rodrigo Nakad running our B5 Pro II engine!
in Buggy Class:
3rd place went to driver Rodrigo Nakad running our B7KE engine!
8the place went to driver Thomas Gisler running our B7KE engine!
As usual these were 100% box stock engines, they were not gone trough, inspected or have special parts used in them. They are exactly the same engines that are supplied to all of our customers!

They are doing well, here's an example from the weekend before last. Adam Cogreve won Sportsman Buggy taking home 1st with his B5-Pro II powered Mugen at the 800+ entry 2020 Psyhico Nitro Blast! Jacob Savage also took home 3rd in Sportsman Buggy running one of our B3-Pro II's giving Werks Engines 2 out of the 3 top spots for the class! Werks team driver Evan Vail also made the A main in a very stacked Pro Truggy class with his B5-Pro II powered Associated truggy!

Yes we phased out the standard B5 & B6 engines a little while ago as the amount of different engine versions that we making was getting too large. Also in general engine pricing of our competition has been increased quite dramatically the last few years and we decided that with our Pro-II model we offer the best performance and feature set in comparison to what others are offering at a very atractive price point! To give you an idea of how our engine compares to the competition here is some pricing from A-main's site:
Werks B5-Pro II $284.99
FX K501 $379.99
OS B2103 $479.99
ProTek Samurai R03 $399.99
Tekno Bloc 2 lbm $469.99
Reds 721s $359.99
So as you can see we come in very agressive price wise when compared to the other engines currently on the market with similar feature sets!

Yes, the 2013 and 2058 pipe sets are still in production and we sent a bunch of the 2058's to A-main a few weeks ago but they might have sold out since. Unfortunately we (and a lot of the other Italian engine manufacturers) are dealing with fall out from the pandemic right now as Italy was affected quite badly by the pandemic. The government put everything in lockdown there back in February shutting down all of the businesses/factories and they just opened up right around the start of June. Unfortunately on top of that everything in Italy is normally shut down for their summer holiday from August to September. The lead time on making engines etc is quite long so you are lucky if you are able to get more than 1 shipment out of Italy in that 2 month window before everything is closed for the holidays! So being candid availability of any popular items that are made in Italy (from any of the manufacturers) is going to be pretty limited the next few months until Italy opens up again and the manufacturers have time to catch up on production.

Hey Ron,
So i have one of your B5 engines, not the newer Pro II version. The engine is sitting around the 4-5 gallon mark, and still has a lot of compression. However, about a year ago, I was a dummy and didn’t have the piston at TDC when I was taking off the back plate, and took a chunk out of the skirt of the piston. What I would like to know, is if I get a new piston for it to repair the engine, would I also absolutely have to get a sleeve as well, or can you get away with just replacing the piston. I understand that each piston and sleeve builds it’s own wear characteristics and then they essentially “match”. I ask this, because for the wallets sake, it would obviously be cheaper to just change the piston. But if that would cause issues with not changing the sleeve with the new piston, and I should just get both, then I might as well just look at getting an entirely new engine, as the price difference isn’t that much. What are your thoughts or advice on this? Thanks Ron.

Sorry to hear about what happened! A lot of people actually make the same mistake when they first start workingon engines unfortunately. As others have mentioned pistons and sleeves are always sold as a matched set, so you can not buy a loose piston or a loose sleeve (from any manufacturer that I know of). Hope that helps a bit!
