Yes, I believe we can run every HFAY circuit though there are some tiles left over but we could always add them to the straights. My problem is space. Because I am in the wheelchair I have to invade our living room which is not terribly large so I will have a hard time going with a long skinny layout, I might be able to go 14 tiles as long as there is a tight 180 at the end. I will say I do like the current circuit, I love going into the turn at the end of the long straight and I I hit is right I can hit hit a perfect apex and then use some lift throttle oversteer to pivot the car around the 180*..,.it is awesome when it works out.

Cheers,
Jim

I am also is running low on space. But if you do HFAY setups I can teste them all to see what fits or not, and just skip those I can't use.

Is it possible to start a new thread for each round?
Let's say 1 thread for rules and discussion and 1 thread for each round. That would be 6 threads a year.
Just asking for a friend.....

Mods would shut them down most likely.

Does anyone know the difference between the RCP tracks and the official Kyosho kits? RCP supposedly made them for Kyosho but I can't find concrete information about it.

Also, it was mentioned earlier in this thread that the mini96 track can be made up of two wide L tracks. Is that correct? Below is a link to the Kyosho L track.

https://rc.kyosho.com/en/rccar/miniz/grandprix-circuit/87032.html

How about the the extension circuit? Has anyone ever used it or know if it's worth purchasing along with a couple of wide L tracks? Primary use would be DNano and Mini Z.

I was the 1 that mentioned that its 2 wide L tracks shrunk down into 1 mini96 track. There is a pic I posted that the layouts in that pic are ment to be for 2 wide L designs and I had extra straights left over when I triedI#15 layout
as for extension goes I would look into as I already am because I have the space for it and I really dont know if there is a difference in the kyosho america and rcp kits

Yes,RCP supplies the track for Kyosho. The Mini 96 has 96 tiles as the name suggests but two “L’s” only has 86 tiles I believe....do they offer “L’s” with 30cm tiles?

As far as extension packs go that is up to you and the space you have. I personally don’t see the M96WC ever running a track with extension packs because that would exclude people. I kept a number of both outer and inner squares from all the track I gave away so at some point I will personally build a track on our deck that has a fairly long straight 3 tiles wide.

Cheers,
Jim.

Regarding the extension, I'm interested in it for a separate track. I'm outside of North America so the Kyosho tracks are much easier to source than RCP.

I think the smaller track is more ideal for the DNano cars but I understand that it's not possible for most racers to get the larger 50cm tile version, especially for indoor use.

If you are running solo I think the Mini96 is awesome, you have to learn to keep it tidy but I bet it will pay dividends when I make it onto a 50cm track.

Hello All,
I just realized that it is the first. I have been hammer down at work but I will try to get results up tomorrow.

As for the circuit we will run the July Circuit counter clockwise on the rough side.

July Results-

Hello All, not a great showing in July, I am hoping this is just a case of everyone being busy during the summer. I was lucky enough to have the track up for almost 2 straight weeks but then life got busy and we will have been away for four weekends straight. August is also going to be super busy but I will get some laps in.

With that said I liked this months track, having the three longer straights was nice and as I mentioned I started to get pretty good at hitting the two apexes coming off the long straight and then using some trailing throttle oversteer to pivot the car into the infield, when I got it right I would turn some wicked fast laps.

This was the first month for me running Box Stock and I have to say it is pretty amazing how well a Box Stock car runs with minimal work. I have cleaned the grease out of the bearings, broke in the motor , removed all the capacitors/thermal links from the motor, reversed the king pins, changed tires, and tried some different T-Plates. I am currently on stock front springs and the widest Kyosho G10 T-Plate in the back. The car is super consistent and just a joy to drive. I have been running either a 458 or a 599XX body, the 458 turned the fastest lap bit they are both really nice to drive.

Back on the subject of what surface to run on. I think after this month we are going to go to the smooth side. With participation where it is we need to do something to increase the number of participants and right off the bat I know 4 guys who run a Mini-96 on the smooth side so hopefully they will join us.

Alright, without further ado here are the times for July:

Box Stock-
1st LJH
-392.0 Race Time/5.23s Average lap time/4.75 Fast Lap

Stock-
1st-LJH-
381.5 Race Time/5.09 Average Lap/4.62 Fast Lap

Pro-Stock
1st-LJH-
368.9 Race Time/4.92 Average Lap/ 4.25 Fast Lap

Open 2WD
1st- Mattdaddy-
431.8 Race Time/5.76 Average Lap/4.64 Fast Lap

As mentioned the August circuit is the same as July except we are running counter clockwise.

Let's see what you can do.

Cheers,
Jim

Dang I didn’t even get to run but three times. It’s hard to get time this time of year. Hopefully I can get some more time this month. Are we running the same layout in CCW?

Difference in Kyosho and RCP might be track height.
If you mix the two, my experience is that it gets bumpy.
And bumpy is not good
For RCP there has also been differences from some years, but mostly on direction on the cutting.
In my little experience, 30cm tiles have more often variation in track height than 50cm tiles, but it can al be down to age of the pieces. If you get the whole track at once it might be better....

This is just MY personal opinion:
EVO version is no faster than MR03. Still same FET's. Same chassi.
EVO has no better steering if you use old transmitter. But is much more precise with the new high end transmitters.
But EVO is newer and you might get original parts easier. Like the motherboard.
I would go EVO if I did not have 6 other Mini-Z chassis and a transmitter already. Front end and rear end I could still use my optional parts.
But with that said, no need to get the best if there is no club near by. If you drive at home with yourself. You can get whatever you can get. A used GT Modified and swap motor for a 70T / 3500kv motor is probably the best. And if you and a buddy drives sometimes, it's better you go together and decides what to do. Much more fun driving equal cars.

Personally I like PN Rules, since they are doing really world cups and drivers from all over the world is joining.
Where all drive on the same surface and competing during a weekend.
Those rules are based on years of experience and with input from the drivers. Of course it's PN, so you can go all out except in 1 or 2 of the classes.

Ok this is just my opinion and 2cents so dont ridicule me. I hate driving the same layout more than 2 weeks let alone 2 months going both ways. Why not do 1 month layouts 2 week cw another 2weeks ccw there is more than enough layouts that it possible to be done. Especially if people are breaking there tracks down and putting them back up. I'm fortunate to be able to leave it together in my basement so i can play whenever i want to also my oldest kid took to it so i got him a box stock car to play with. His hot wheels ai wasnt cutting it and he said it felt slow being he was full throttle and not hitting the boards with me going around him using him like lap traffic lol.
as far as layouts go I have done 5 of the layouts in the pic i put up and every layout there was 8 straights left over so u can add them in so the shortest location.
like i said just my .2 dont shoot me for it lol.
